Come Play!

Greetings! It is time once again for a new challenge over at Inkspirational. This time we have a word prompt and the word is "Play!"

Lots of ways to interpret this one! Check out how each of the design team members approached their project and our guest designer, as well!

When I saw the word play, I immediately thought of this image by Lost Coast Design of a little girl playing with balls or bubbles. The background was done with Magicals on Mixed Media Paper and the dog is by Tim Holtz as are the letter tiles, for Idea-ology.

I hope that you will submit an inspired piece of your own for us to enjoy. Thanks so much for stopping by. Hugs, Yvonne

Farm Animals

Greetings! Back again with a new post for the latest challenge over at Fashionable Stamping Challenges where the theme this time is "Animals." Lots of ways to go with this one! I hope that you will stop over to see what the rest of the Design Team created to inspire you and then consider creating a project of your own to share with us.  Please remember that we are a stamping challenge so the focal images of your project must be stamped.  One lucky participant will receive a complimentary stamp image from our generous sponsor: Ink Art Designs.

For my project, I created an 8"x8" card using images from several sets by Oxford Impressions.  It was first time inking them up and I just love the detail and variety included.  The images were watercolored with TomBow Markers and I splattered Golden High Flow Acrylic Paint on the background. A milk cap by Tim Holtz for Idea-ology and some gingham ribbon by May Arts completes my card.  Thanks for stopping by and for your comments.  They mean a lot to me.  Sincerely, Yvonne

Christmas Greetings

Greetings! The weeks roll by quickly, and once again it is time for a new challenge over at Fashionable Stamping Challenge.  Our theme is "Celebrating." It can be a project around celebrating Christmas, New Years, Birthdays, or whatever else strikes your fancy.

I hope that you will stop over and check out all the beautiful and inspiring projects by the rest of the Design Team and then consider making a project of your own to share with us.  Remember, we are a stamping challenge, so the focal point of your project must be stamped.  Also, one lucky participant will be selected to win a stamp image provided by our gracious sponsor Ink Art Designs

For my own project, I began by sprinkling Bister crystals in blue and brown onto a water color panel.  The pup carrying an evergreen branch is a new to me stamp from The Frantic Stamper. The sentiment is a stamp image by Tim Holtz for Stampers Anonymous and the little boy is a paper doll by Tim Holtz for Idealogy. The corners are hand drawn and a bit of Stickles for sparkle complete my card.

Thanks so much for stopping by! I truly value your visits and comments.  Best, Yvonne

A Boy and his Dog

Greetings! I generally do not photograph inside, but we are in the rainy season with no end in sight, so I hope you will overlook my photo's background!

For my card, I began with a watercolor panel and sprayed it with several Distress Spray Inks. The sentiment by Artistic Outpost was stamped on a scrap panel, dredged through Distress Ink on my craft mat and added to the main panel.  I stamped circles using a stamp by Stampotique randomly onto the card panel. The paper dolls by Tim Holtz were added next, over top of a number of different colors of thread by Tim Holtz. For a bit more texture, I added embossing paste through a Tim Holtz stencil at various points on the panel.

I would like to submit my card to Love To Create, Challenge #6, called "Anything Create, Mixed Media Goes."

Thanks for stopping by! Yvonne

Hello There!

Greetings! I made this card for my great niece who is recuperating from surgery and for the current challenge over at Simon Says Monday Stamp Challenge where the theme is Things with Wings.

I began by spritzing water on a watercolor paper panel and then adding Distress Spray Inks.  The whimsical fairy and the circles are all by Stampotique Originals. The sentiments are from Idea-ology. The close up in less lighting shows the sentiments more clearly, as well as the spattering of paint used to add texture to my piece. The wings and wand were treated to my nearly acquired Prima Alchemy Spark paints. Love them.

Thanks for stopping by. Best, Yvonne

Steampunk 2017

Greetings. This is my very first post for 2017. Some of you who have followed me from the beginning know that my husband has been in a battle for his life for many years.  Sadly, for me, he went to be with the Lord on December 23, 2016. After taking some time off, I decided to restart my art, in honor of my late husband, my biggest supporter and as it has always brought me solace.

My first post is for Inkspirational. Challenge #131 is a photo inkspiration challenge.  I saw it as very steampunk, but in reality, I believe the collage of objects is my Alice In Wonderland, Mad Hatter!

I hope you will stop over to see the different takes on the challenge by our talented Design Team, and then create and submit a project of your own for possible consideration as our top pick.

My card reflects the colors of the photograph by using spray inks and ink pads in similar colors.  Images are by Oxford Impressions. Embellishments are Tim Holtz for Ranger.

Thanks for dropping by.

Best, Yvonne

Explore, Dream, Discover

Greetings friends!  Thank you for stopping by my blog today.  I am sharing my creation for the Pink Team over at Eclectic Ellapu where our theme for July is "Travel."  Lots of ways to go with this one and you will not be disappointed with what the team has dreamed up to inspire you.  For my own card, I started by creating a background with Bister.  Then I selected a number of images from Crafty Individuals and Artistic Outpost that I thought went well together to create my scene.  A bit of Idea-ology gears and some copper Viva Décor Liquid Pearls and my card is complete.  We cannot wait to see what you dream up! Hugs, Yvonne

Happy New Year!

Greetings! A special thank you to newest follower!  Well, we are only days away from Christmas now!  I am not completely ready, but it's okay.  How about you?  I wanted to share with you today a card I created for our new challenge over at Inkspirational where this time around we have a Photo to inspire you.

I hope you will stop over to see what the rest of the Design Team have dreamed up for you with this awesome photo as inspiration.  For my own card, I used a new stencil of the New York City skyline by Sheena Douglass called "The Big Apple."  The couple and sentiment are images from Artistic Outpost.  I colored in the buildings with Pan Pastels.  I did not have any fireworks stamp images so I added mirrored stars by Tim Holtz Idea-ology, instead.

We look forward to seeing what you create and hope you will submit a project of your own.  Merry Christmas!  Hugs, Yvonne

Get Your Kicks on Route 66!

Greetings!  Thanks for stopping by.  My post today is an 8" x 10" canvas that I created for the new challenge that starts today over at Eclectic Ellapu.  Our theme is "Around the World, Land, Country or Holiday." After looking through my stamp images, I decided to stay in the USA this time, and pulled out this vintage set of images from Artistic Outpost called Route 66. My canvas is a "Road Trip" on Route 66! There is a song call "Get Your Kicks on Route 66 from 1946 that has been recorded by numerous artists and pays homage to US Route 66 highway, which used to run a long distance across the US, from Chicago, IL to Los Angeles, CA.  I began by selecting Ranger Distress Paints in colors that reminded me of the desert.  I stenciled some Wendy Vecchi Black Embossing Paste using a Tim Holtz Stencil in the bottom corner.  Images from Artistic Outpost were stamped with Ranger Archival Ink on tissue paper or scrap card stock and water colored with Ranger Distress Inks and adhered to the canvas.  A bit of burlap and some mini sprockets by Idea-ology add a bit of dimension.  I hope you will visit EE and check out all the other inspiration samples by the talented Design Team and then consider submitting a piece of your own for us to enjoy!  Thanks for stopping by.  Hugs, Yvonne

Think and Wonder

Greetings!  In my quest to join in on challenges beyond my various Design Team responsibilities, I am submitting the canvas above for three Challenges, two of which are about to close!  The first is for the challenge over at Simon Says Monday Challenge where the challenge is to create something using something you love.  I chose to create my canvas using this focal image that I love from Artistic Outpost.  The second challenge is over at Our Creative Corner where the challenge is to create a project using Blue, Brown and Purple with no Black, hence my chosen color pallete. And finally, as all the images and sentiments I have used  are from Artistic Outpost, I am entering my canvas in the Artistic Outpost February Referral Program.  I began with a blank canvas, spritzed it with water and then applied Distress Paint in Dusty Concord, Gathered Twigs, Chipped Sapphire, Vintage Photo, Broken China, Antique Linen and Seedless Preserves.  Next I stamped the focal image by Think and Wonder with Timber Brown StazOn Ink onto tissue paper and adhered it with Glue & Seal.  Other images from Generation Redux and Polaroid Cutie were stamped around the edges of the canvas. White Embossing Paste, by Dreamworks, was tinted with Chipped Sapphire Distress Paint and stenciled through several Tim Holtz Stencils. The sentiments, from Think and Wonder, were stamped onto scrap card stock, distressed with Vintage Photo and Broken China Distress Ink, trimmed and adhered to the canvas.  Some paper string in brown, by Ideaology was twirled into circles and adhered, completing my canvas. Thanks so much for stopping by today.  Hugs, Yvonne

Eye See You!

Hello faithful followers! I am having one of those days when I have multiple Design Team Posts to share with you, so thank you in advance for your patience.  The tag above is for the newest challenge over at Fashionable Stamping Challenge, where my Design Team Sister, Laura Bomber, has chosen for us to create a project "Without Using Ink."  We are permitted to use ink for coloring in.  As always, our challenge is supported by FlonzCraft and one lucky participant at the end of the challenge will be chosen to receive a gift voucher for $20.  Now if you follow my blog on a regular bases, you know that I am primarily a card maker!  I thought I was going to die when I had to make my first tag for FSC back in 2011!  For some reason, I just thought this would be a good challenge to use a tag.  I began by smooshing various fall colored Distress Paints onto my Craft Mat.  A bit of water mist came next and then I dragged my tag through the paints for my background color.  I would normally distress the edges with Vintage Photo or another color of Distress Ink, but I resisted and instead used some Gathered Twigs Distress Paint with a blending tool. Next, I embossed the tag with some White Embossing Paste by Dreamworks through a Tim Holtz stencil.  In the center of the tag, I pounced Black Soot DP through another Tim Holtz stencil.  The focal image by Lost Coast Design was stamped with more Black Soot DP and colored in with the allowed Distress Markers.  For more contrast, I added Idea-ology Rub-ons onto the tag. I painted several chipboard pieces with more Black Soot DP and dabbed some Spiced Marmalade DP onto a wood piece by Idea-ology.  The gauze behind the focal image and at the top of the tag where colored with more Distress Paints as was the metal tag.  I must say, I was out of my comfort zone for this challenge on many fronts and kept trying to reach for my ink pads, but that's why it is a challenge, yes?!  I'm glad I gave it a go, and I hope you will stop by FSC to see what the rest of the Design Team has created and then make a project of your own.  Thanks for dropping by!  Yvonne

Moon Glow

This post is for the Wednesday Challenge over at 365 Cards. Today, our challenge is to create a card with as many items as you can that begin with the letter "R."  I chose to create a card with autumnal images featuring this gorgeous image of a Raven by Red Lead as is the chipboard tree. The image was layered over an orange tag, which was distressed with Black Soot Distress Ink and stenciled with the new Shattered Stencil by Tim Holtz and a one by Red Lead.  The rustling leaves clip art is from Gecko Galz, as are the pumpkins and Autumn Harvest sentiment.  The various elements were layered over an 8 x 8 card that was distressed with Vintage Photo DI and Idea-ology Tissue Tape.  I apologize for the delay in posting today.  My PC developed a virus recently and had to be hospitalized.  All is well now!  Looking forward to seeing what you come up with for today's challenge!  Hugs, Yvonne

Blessings

Greetings!  My post today is entitled Blessings.  It is for the current challenge over at Inkspirational where we are challenged to create a project that is inspired by the gorgeous photo below.

Before I continue talking about my card, I wanted to let you know, as valued friends, that my dear husband who has been battling cancer these past ten years, has suffered with several strokes this past week.  He is home now, and recovering.  Progress is slow, but we have much to be thankful for.  He can still see, talk and walk though the has lost use of his one hand.  As artists, we use our hands nearly every day in delight of our quest to create art.  How thankful I am for each day I still have this tactile function.  The doctor thinks with time and hard work he will regain use of his hand, so are thankful for that as well.

For my card, I began with an 8 x 8 card base, which I distressed with Spiced Marmalade and Vintage Photo Distress Inks.  I spritzed and flicked a bit of water on as well.  The beautiful image in the center of my wreath is from Gecko Galz.

The wreath was made from several die cuts and Grunge Board, all by Tim Holtz Alterations and Idea-ology. The pieces were painted with Ranger Rock Candy Crackle Paint and then using the Colored Crackle process I learned in Creative Chemistry 102, I blended various Distress Paints with a Blender Tool onto the pieces.  Next I used Tea Dye Distress Stain.  I think Vintage Photo Distress Stain would have been gorgeous, but alas, I do not have one.

The pieces were assembled in a circle around the focal image.  A filigree metal corner, a complimentary piece from Linda Coughlin with an order from The Funkie Junkie Boutique and a vintage seam binding bow came next.  A simple sentiment by Gecko Galz completes my card.

I hope you will pop over to Inkspirational to see what the rest of the Design team have dreamed up to inspire you and then consider joining us for our challenge!  Thank you so much for dropping by today my friends.  Love, Yvonne

Enjoy the Journey!

Greetings and welcome to my blog.  Thanks so much for dropping by!  Another week has flown by and it is time once again for a new challenge over at Inkspirational.  There are also a few changes. There is new leadership.  Several of our Design Team members were facing life changes and needed to relinquish a number of responsibilities accordingly.  We are now under the helm of Marina (thanks so much for taking on this responsibility) and of course as we bid farewell to some of the original Design Team, a huge thank you to Mynnette and Ellen co-owners and Ruth post coordinator for all their hard work in getting Inkspirational off the ground from its inception.  We have also decided to move to a bi-weekly format, allowing all of our followers a bit more time to create their own project.  As for this week's challenge, we have a color challenge, as shown below.  The twist though, is that you can pick either two or three of the colors with which to work.  I chose to use all three for my own creation.

I am working with a new to me image and sentiment that are from Penny Black.  The image and sentiment were stamped with Black StazOn Ink and then water colored with Picked Raspberry, Salty Ocean and Pumice Stone to replicate the color palette above.  The image and sentiment were trimmed, distressed with Black Soot Distress Ink and layered over a gray mat which was first stenciled and embossed with embossing paste using stencils by Tim Holtz. A simple black and white piece of twine and metal tag holder by Idea-ology complete my card.  I hope you will pop over to see what the rest of the design team has come up with and welcome our newest design team member, Nonni, too.  Thanks for dropping by.  Best wishes, Yvonne

The Journey Awakens the Soul

Greetings! It is time for a new challenge over at Inkspirational!  This week we have a CASE challenge based on the gorgeous sample below:
For my own card, I chose to use a similar design and color scheme. Since I gave most of my background papers away, I chose four different shades of gray paper and stenciled each using a combination of Crafty Workshop and Tim Holtz Stencils and Black Soot Distress Ink.  The die cut is actually an Alterations Pocket Watch die cut with the top cut off.  The focal image, inked for the first time, is by BLine Designs and was water colored with Distress Markers and attached to the card front with foam dots.  The paper string and metal journal tag are by Idea-ology.  I hope you will pop over to Inkspirational to browse through the gorgeous samples of the rest of the Design Team and then create one of your own.  Our sponsor for the month of September is Inspired By Stamping.  One lucky month long participant will win a gift card.  Best wishes, Yvonne

Wild Cat

Hello! It's Wednesday and that means there is another Word Wednesday Challenge over at 365 Cards!  Our word this week is "Wild."  Now I had a bunch of different ideas for which direction to go in, but in the end, this gorgeous cat included on this collage stamp by Artistic Outpost won out.  The collage image was stamped with Timber Brown StazOn Ink on white card stock.  The focal image was water colored with Distress Markers. The entire panel was distressed with Vintage Photo Distress Ink and the edges were distressed with Distress Tool.  The image was matted on several shades of brown matting and layered over corrugated card board onto the card front.  Rub ons by 7 Gypsies and tissue tape by Idea-ology fill in the white backaground.  Paper string is also by Idea-ology, as is the clip at the top of the card, which is attached to a piece of frayed burlap and a vintage button.  What will you create for the challenge?  Thanks for stopping by!  Hugs, Yvonne

Party On!

Greetings! It is hard to believe it is time again for the Pink Team over at Eclectic Ellapu!  Our theme this time around is to create a project based on our pets. It can be a current pet, or a past pet.  I decided to create this card in remembrance of my most recent cat, Pepper, who was a member of our family for 16 years.  Pepper was a gray tabby cat, very shy, wanted to be in the room with us, but at a safe distance.  She was very sweet and left a lasting impression on all of us.  I chose to use three cat images from Lost Coast Designs called "Party Cats" and inked them with Mowed Lawn, Salty Ocean and Mustard Seed Distress Ink.  The cat images were trimmed and mounted over a card base that was stenciled with a variety of stencils by Andy Skinner, Tim Holtz and Crafters Workshop.  The ink splats are a stamp image by Crafty Individuals and the word "Meow" was stamped with an alphabet set by Studio G.  Paper String by Ideo-ology completes my card.  I sure hope you will drop over to Eclectic Ellapu to see what the Design  Team have created for you and then share a project of your own with us.

By the way Eclectic Ellapu is about to celebrate its first year in October.  They have come up with a month long Treasure Hunt that is filled with fabulous prizes.  Stay tuned for more information.  I hope you will join in the fun!  Best wishes, Yvonne

Life, Family, Home

Hello! Well, it is Wednesday, and that means there is a new challenge over at Inkspirational! This week, we are working from the sketch below.

For my own card, I chose to start with a white card base.  I stenciled a Finnabair doily with Antique Linen and Vintage Photo Distress Inks.   The beautiful tags, a freebie from our sponsor "Eclectic Anthology" were printed, trimmed, distressed with Vintage Photo DI, tied with ivory burlap string and adhered to the card front. Some grunge ribbon and ChitChat Stickers complete my card.

I hope you will check out the rest of the Design Team's inkspiration pieces and then join in the fun.  Thanks for stopping by.  Yvonne

Fly Away Nightengale

Greetings, and thank you for stopping by my blog today!  This card is for the latest challenge over at Inkspirational.  This week, we have a CASE challenge and are working from the beautiful sample below.

For my own card, I began by stenciling Vintage Photo Distress Ink using one of Tim Holtz's new stencils onto a Kraft card base.  The focal image is by Red Lead and was water colored with Distress Markers.  The image was matted and layered onto a paper doily over the card base.  ChitChat stickers, cheese cloth and a complimentary metal corner piece from Linda Coughlin at Funkie Junkie completes my card.

I hope you will take a moment to stop over to Inkspirational to see what the rest of the Design Team has dreamed up to inspire you and then create a project of your own.  For one lucky participant who submits for the entire month of challenges, there will be a gift card for $30 from our sponsor Eclectic Anthology.

Best wishes to you, Yvonne

Adventure Is Worthwhile in Itself

Greetings! It's time for another Word Wednesday Challenge over at 365 Cards! Our word this week is "Adventure."  As soon as I saw the word, I immediately thought of several stamp plates over at Artistic Outpost:  Charles and Amelia and Industrial BackgroundsThe focal square was created with Bundled Sage, Rusty Hinge and Chipped Sapphire Distress Paint.  The various images were stamped onto card stock and water colored with Distress Markers.  The card base was also stamped  and the edges were distressed with Distress Inks.  Water was spritzed onto the card base for a bit of relief. Some Idea-ology gears, copper Liquid Pearls and paper string complete my card.  What will you create to define the word "Adventure?"  I also plan to submit my card to the August Referral Program over at Artistic Outpost.  Thanks for dropping by.  Best wishes, Yvonne
