By the Beautiful Sea

Greetings!  This is a scheduled post that I am hoping to post before we lose power here in Central Pennsylvania in the midst of Hurricane Sandy.  I hope wherever you reside that you are safe, dry and warm.  Over a 365 Cards, the challenge for today is to create a card based on a Decorative Item in your home.  My thoughts immediately went to this decorative pillow in my den.  Although my card is not a "replica," the composition was truly inspired by the pillow.  The images and sentiment are all from the Beyond the Sea plate by Artistic Outpost. The sky, light coming from the lighthouse and water were all created with Distress Inks.  I chose to use star fish rather than stars for my corners.  What will you chose to inspire your creation?  We hope you will join in the fun at 365 Cards!  Thanks for dropping by.  Best wishes, Yvonne

Checking His List

This marks the half way mark for the 12 Tags of Christmas Funkie Junkie style!  Above is Linda's beautiful tag, which serves as our inspiration piece.  The challenge is sponsored by The Funkie Junkie Boutique.  For my card (rather than tag), I incorporated a pine tree, a bit of vintage page text, the word joy, snow flakes and a layered red paper flower and button, from Linda's tag into my own interpretation.  The pine trees from Artistic Outpost were stamped with Iced Spruce Distress Ink and distressed with more Vintage Photo Distress Ink.  The Santa image and sentiment by Stampsmith were inked with Red StazOn Ink and also distressed with Vintage Photo DI.  Vintage seam binding, a bit of burlap string and some Chrome  Liquid Pearls complete my card.  There's still lots of time if you want to join in the fun for a possible prize!  Thanks for dropping by.  Hugs, Yvonne

With Lots of Love

Okay, I know we are all focused on Autumnal or Holiday cards at the moment.  But Pam over at 365 Cards has decided to switch things up for the day and gives us the challenge of "Be My Valentine."  A refreshing change for me, I must say.  I immediately knew I wanted to work with one of my favorite plates of images over at Artistic Outpost called Cutie Pie.  Because I was going for a vintage look, I decided to stamp the main image with red ink and add just a touch of Spun Sugar Distress Ink.  The background was stamped with Black StazOn Ink and water colored with Worn Lipstick, Spun Sugar, Fired Brick and Barn Red Distress Markers.  A red paper doily, vintage pink seam binding, an Idea-ology heart charm and a touch of red glitter glue complete my card.

Hope is the Thing with Feathers

There's a new challenge over at Tuesday Alchemy.  The random word selector has chosen three words:  Bath, Duct Tape and Sparrow to work from.  Although I generally attempt to create a card with all three words, I elected to just go with the sparrow this time.  I chose stamps by TPC Studio for my card, inked them with Black StazOn ink and stamped them onto Specialty Paper before trimming them and lightly water coloring them with Pumice Stone and Brick Red Distress Markers.  Simple embellishments include a scrap of lace, a vintage button, red burlap string, vintage page scraps, torn scrap of handmade paper, cheesecloth, and an embossed photo corner.  Thanks for dropping by.  I hope you are having a great day.  Best wishes, Yvonne

Au Revoir Mon Amie

It's Monday and that means a new challenge over at Make My Monday!  I am truly enjoying this month of French Vintage challenges at MMM.  For this week, the challenge is to create a project in Tricoleur of Red, White and Blue.  I began with this vintage image of the Eiffel Tower by Stampsmith and stamped it in Faded Jeans Distress Ink.  The edges were distressed with Vintage Photo Distress Ink.  The stamped image was matted and layered to the card front over a black doily.  The sentiment is also from Stampsmith.  A variety of airmail stickers, by Martha Stewart were distressed with more Vintage Photo Distress Ink and added to the card front.  A bit of air mail Baker's Twine, an Eiffel Tower charm from my stash, and some Liquid Pearls complete my card.  Thanks so much for dropping by.  Best wishes, Yvonne

Bon Appetite!

Happy Saturday everyone!  There's a new challenge over at Our Creative Corner.  This time around, we are to create a CAS card with images you might find in a kitchen.  Oh how tempted I was to add an image of a lady, a paper doily and lace to my card front, but in the end, I resisted!  The image and sentiment are from the London Elements plate by Artistic Outpost.  I have been waiting for some time to use this twill ribbon and thought it was perfect for this challenge.  Vintage buttons (can you believe the size of the holes in the larger button?) compete my card.  Thanks for all your visits to my blog and your kind words of encouragement.  It means so much to me.  Best wishes, Yvonne

Apothecary

Well, here we are again, with another new challenge over at Fashionable Stamping Challenge!  A very timely theme of Halloween, using Halloween Colors for the next two weeks.  For my inspirational piece, I decided to create a background using a variety of Distress Inks in Halloween colors.  Images from Halloween Treats and Apothecary plates by Artistic Outpost were stamped on Specialty Paper.  Some of the images were water colored with Distress Markers and all of the images were distressed with Vintage Photo Distress Markers.  Embellishments include burlap string from The Funkie Junkie Boutique, Copper Liquid Pearls and Spider Stickers from Martha Stewart.  I hope you will check out the other inspiration pieces by the rest of the Design Team and I hope you will consider making a project of your own for a possible prize.  Full details can be found over at FSC! Thanks for dropping by.  Best wishes, Yvonne

Christmas Joy

Hello!  A sleepless night last night, so I cut up some card bases and then inked up some Oxford Impression stamps to create this joy-filled Christmas greeting.  Several of the stamps had not been used previously.  Aren't they gorgeous?  A simple, joyful card to add to my Holiday stash.  Hope your weekend is going well.  I'll be back in a couple of hours with my design team inspiration piece for the new Fashionable Stamping Challenge.  See you then.  Best wishes, Yvonne

Christmas Morning Wish

Wow! We are up to Tag #5 over at the Twelve Tags of Christmas Funkie Junkie Style!  Isn't Linda's tag absolutely dreamy?  I continue to make cards rather than tags and thus my card for the challenge is shown above.  I just received several Sissix die cuts in an order yesterday morning from Linda's Funkie Junkie Boutique, sponsor for this challenge, which aided me greatly in creating my card.  For this fifth challenge, I emulated, as best I could, Linda's card with the Vintage Photo Distress Ink, snowflakes, music, tickets, a flower, and filigree metal embellishments.  This card was a bit of a struggle for me.  I was excited to find "The First Noel" sheet music in our piano bench, which I photo copied onto card stock.  Unfortunately, when I tried to add Distress Ink, the ink from the printer smeared, even when heat set, so I switched to a Stampsmith image of music.  The filigree elements are hardware from a opera-length black velvet cape I wore once to White Tie event!  This is my first time using the Tattered Flowers die cut. I think I am going to like making flowers with it a lot!  I'll be back tomorrow with a post for the new Fashionable Stamping Champion.  I hope you will stop back tomorrow evening!  Have a great weekend.  Yvonne

Joy and a Boy

Hello!  Today, I am sharing with you my take on Linda Coughlin's 4th Tag of 12 Tags of Christmas.  I just love Linda's Tag!  I especially love the gingham background.  For my own card, I wanted to try to use as many of the elements as I could that Linda chose, which includes: Gingham check, pine cone, holly, post card text, a bow, a calendar, an embossed red panel, and a black and white image.  I layered small scraps of gingham check paper (it's all that I had on hand) to the card base.  The Post Card sentiment, from the Ephemera Backgrounds plate by Artistic Outpost, was stamped onto the card base.  The various images were stamped on Specialty paper, distressed with Vintage Photo Distress Ink and added to the card front.  A Tim Holtz Texture Folder of pine trees was used to emboss pine trees.  The little boy and the pine cone are by Stampsmth, the holly branch is by Inkadinkado.  White glitter glue was added to the pine cone and the edge of the pine trees.  A tartan plaid bow from my stash and some Chrome Liquid Pearls complete my card.  Linda's boutique called The Funkie Junkie Boutique is sponsoring the Twelve Tags of Christmas Challenge.  It is filled with great items at great prices.  Why not take a peek?!  Thanks for dropping by.  Best wishes, Yvonne

Bonjour!

What a great month of challenges over at Make My Monday!  This week, the theme is to include Fleur de Lys in our project.  I decided to ink up this "Arc de Triomph" stamp, by Stampsmith, for the first time.  After distressing with Vintage Photo Distress Ink, it was layered over a black doily.  A portion of a map of Paris, also by Stampsmith was stamped, distressed, and tucked under the main image.  The sentiments were stamped, distressed, matted and layered to the card front.  Torn portions of a French text were distressed and added next.  A "Fleur de Lys" stamp, by Inkadinkado, was stamped several times, trimmed, water colored with Rusty Hinge DI and mounted to the card front with pop dots.  Copper Liquid Pearls and a red, white and blue ribbon complete my card.  Thanks so much for all your faithful visits to my blog.  I truly appreciate each one of you.  Best wishes, Yvonne

SteamPunk Locomotive II

Hello!  Sharing a card with you today that I made for Day 231 of 365 Cards called "You Raise Me Up."  The challenge is to raise up three areas of your card.  You might use pop dots, as I did, or, you might layer items upon other items to achieve this.  For my card, I began by smushing Tumbled Glass and Peeled Paint Distress Inks onto a Craft Pad, spritzing with water and dragging my background paper through the ink puddles.  After setting with a heat tool, I added more Tumbled Glass and Vintage Photo Distress Inks with an applicator along the edges.  All of the images are from the SteamPunk plate, by Artistic Outpost, are stamped with Sepia Memento Ink, either onto the background, or onto white card stock and then layered over the background with pop dots.  I chose not to add ribbon, but rather added a bit of a vintage page scrap, Chrome Liquid Pearls, and a Cog from Idea-ology for a masculine touch.  I hope you will join us at 365 Cards for today's challenge!  Thanks for stopping by.  Best wishes, Yvonne

Joyeux Noel

Today, I am posting my final card for my application for Mynnette's new Challenge Blog called Inkspirational.  For the last challenge, we are to create a card inspired by the photo below.  I LOVE this photo.  Probably no other color combination speaks to me like, gray, black, red and white.
I immediately knew I wanted to use this stamp by Penny Black.  It is inked with London Fog Memento Ink and stamped onto Specialty Paper.  The bird was inked a second time with Distress Markers, trimmed and pop dotted over the first image.  White glitter glue was used to add ice to some of the branches and red glitter glue was added to a number of the berries for dimension. The image was matted numerous times and layered over a snowy/berry background paper by Martha Stewart.  The snowflakes were punched with a Martha Stewart punch and glittered with white glitter glue.  The tartan plaid ribbon from my stash and a metal bird charm by Idea-ology complete my card.  There is still lots of time to apply if you are interested yourself in joining Mynnette's new Design Team.  Thanks for dropping by.  Best, Yvonne

Halloween Treats

Continuing to complete samples for consideration for Mynnette's challenge for her new Inkspirational Challenge Blog that begins in January 2013.  This time, I am working from her sketch below.
I decided to do a more autumnal themed card around the sketch.  The stamped images and sentiment from the Halloween Treats plate, by Artistic Outpost, were stamped with Black StazOn Ink and water colored with Distress Markers.  Vintage Photo Distress Ink distresses the edges of the images and sentiment.  Martha Stewart Stickers complete my card.  I am also entering this card over at Artistic Outpost's October Referral Program.  Thanks for dropping by!  Best wishes, Yvonne

Leaves are Falling

This post is for a challenge around Leaves over at CASology that I found this morning while blog hopping.  As I am away from home, I only have a small supply of products to work with, though I did grab one wooden stamp on the way out the door and used it for this card.  The image is colored with Distress Markers and simple embellishments include Idea-ology ChitChat Stickers and Copper Liquid Pearls.  This card is also being entered at this week's Bloggers' Challenge where the them is "Take Flight."

Steampunk Locamotive

Hello!  Back with another card for consideration for the soon to be launched Inkspirational Challenge.  This time, we are working with the Color Challenge below of Olive, Sky Blue and Suede.
As I considered what direction to go with my card, I decided the colors lent themselves to a masculine card.  I selected a clip art image from Crafty Individuals that included the colors in the color challenge as my spring board.  Several stamp plates by Sam Poole were chosen to complement the clip art image.  The stamped images were stamped with Vintage Photo and Peeled Paint Distress Inks and were distressed with Tumbled Glass and Vintage Photo DI and matted with blue and brown card stock and layered to the card front.  Olive Burlap String purchased at the Funkie Junkie Boutique was wrapped around the card front.  Copper liquid pearls and a wheel charm were included for a bit of contrast.  You have until November 30, if you want to be considered for the Design Team.  I think it will be a very interesting DT of which to be a part.  Thanks so much for stopping by.  Best wishes, Yvonne

A Thing of Beauty

Hello!  My first post today is in response to Mynnette's Challenge to consider being selected for a the Design Team for a brand new Challenge blog call Inkspirational that begins in January 2013. Each week of the challenge, each month, will bring a new challenge:  CASE, Color, Photo Inspiration, Sketch, and Anything Goes when there is a fifth week.  To be considered for this Design Team, below is the CASE sample my card above responds to.  Other posts will follow for Mynnette's consideration.
I decided to work with stamps and die cuts I already own for my submission.  The oval label is a portion of a perfume label stamp by Art Declassified.  Using Distress Markers, I water colored the middle of the label with Lemonade DI so that it blended in with the background paper. The frame itself was water colored with Rusty Hinge DI.  The sentiment within the frame is from Stampsmith.  Not having a flower die cut, I chose this beautiful frame, also by Art Declassified.  The center was cut out to create room for a Crafty Individual clip art image.  The black vine, a Sissix die cut, accents the image.  Liquid Pearls complete my card.  If you are looking for a new Design Team to possibly join, why not pop over to On A Stampage.

Girl Power and an Announcement!

I am very excited to announce that I was recently selected to join the Design Team over at 365 Cards.  This challenge is very special to me.  It is one of the very first challenges I ever attempted when creating a blog.  It is so cool to know that every single day of the year there is a new challenge available to try.  As I look back my inventory of cards that I've made, I am amazed at some of my creations and know that 365 Cards has challenged me to make cards I could not have dreamed up otherwise.  I encourage each of you to check 365 Cards out!  I will be creating the challenge card each Wednesday.  I hope you will stop by often.  For my first Design Team Challenge, we are to use Neon Colors and make a big splash on our card with them.  For my card, I chose to spray Dylusions Ink Sprays in Hot Pink and Orange on my background panel.  The focal images by Art Declassified were stamped with Black StazOn Ink and water colored with Ripe Persimmon and Picked Raspberry Distress Inks and matted with black paper for maximum "pop."  Black flowers were stenciled with Dylusions Stencils and accented with a white Gel Pen and black glitter glue.  Black and orange buttons and black burlap string purchased from the Funkie Junkie Boutique and a couple of felt button flowers complete my card.  Thanks so much for dropping by today.  Best wishes, Yvonne

C'est Magnifique!

Hello!  Sharing a card today for the current challenge over at Make My Monday.  This week, the theme is French Vintage.  I chose to work with the Paris Exposition plate of images from Artistic Outpost.  Script from The Outpost plate, also by AO, was stamped onto the Kraft panel in London Fog Memento Ink.  The panel was distressed heavily with Vintage Photo Distress Ink, as were the images.  A portion of a textbook page, in French, was added to the prepared panel.  Ribbon, also distressed with DI and black burlap string were tied around the panel.  An Idea-ology bird charm, an epoxy crown sticker and some black Liquid Pearls complete my card.  I am also submitting this card to Tuesday Alchemy where this week's challenge is Anything Goes and to the October Artistic Outpost Referral Program.  Thanks so much for dropping by and for all your encouraging comments.  Best wishes, Yvonne

Tis Autumn

What a beautiful time of the year!  It is once again time for a new challenge over at Fashionable Stamping Challenge, and how appropriate that this time the theme is create a project around Shades of Autumn.  For my inspiration piece, I was drawn to a beautiful plate of stamps by Artistic Outpost called The Outpost. When I think of Fall, I think of Fall Harvest and farming.  The farm scene was stamped on a vintage book page.  The edges were torn and then distressed with Vintage Photo Distress Ink.  The stamped panel was layered over a panel that was sprayed with several Dylusion Spray Inks and distressed with Vintage Photo Distress Ink.  A Sissix Doily Diecut was cut from Kraft Paper and tucked under the focal panel.  The Raven Ribbon, scooped up at the end of last season, was added to the panel above the sentiment, which is also from the AO stamp set.  Leaves were stamped over top scraps of paper that were sprayed with Dylusion Spray Inks, trimmed and added to the card front along with some Mulberry Paper Leaves.  Vintage wooden buttons, scraps of corrugated cardboard, Baker's Twine by Martha Steward, an Idea-olgy bird charm painted with Ranger Patina Paint, and Copper Liquid Pearls complete my card.  You will want to pop over to FSC to see all the inspiration pieces my Design Team Sisters have created, and I hope you will consider submitting a creation of your own for a possible chance at a great prize.  As we are a stamping challenge, please be certain to include stamping we can see and note that digis are not permitted.  Thanks for dropping by! Best wishes, Yvonne

Frosty the Snowman

Hello!  It's hard too believe that it is already time for week three of Twelve Tags of Christmas Funkie Junkie Style over at The Funkie Junkie Blog.  Linda has created a beautiful tag to inspire us.  For my creation, I was inspired by the crackled snowman, the bow, the snowflakes  and the words "Joy" and "Frosty." The red card base was heat embossed with gold embossing powder for a snowflake background.  Not owning a snowman die, I thought I might create a snowman from punched circles.  The circles were painted with Picket Fence Crackle Paint and distressed with Pumice Stone Distress Ink.  The heart and hat were cut from white card stock free hand and coated with glitter glue.  I am excited about my new Sissix "On the Edge" Snowflake border die used along the bottom.  "Frosty" was spelled out with an alphabet stamp and a "Joy" was stamped from a much larger stamp from Stampington and Company. I wanted to give the snowman some arms, and decided to be inspired by the flourish on Linda's tag and add some chipboard swirls as arms. I decided to add a bow, again, inspired by Linda's tag.  As  a last step, Stardust Stickles were used over many of the card components to make them glisten.Very different from Linda's tag, though greatly inspired by it, indeed.  Linda also has a beautiful boutique called The Funkie Junkie Boutique where you can purchase really neat card making supplies at discounted prices. (My other two tag posts have been updated to include a mention of this as well.)  Why not take a moment and check out her beautiful offerings?  Thanks for dropping by.  Best wishes, Yvonne

Falling Leaves

Hello everyone! (A second post for the day.) This post is for a challenge over at Simon Says Stamp and Show, where the theme this week is Leaves.  I worked with three different stamps to create my card.  The leaf panel in the background started as white card stock. It was sprayed with Dylusions Spray Inks in red, yellow and orange inks.  The falling leaves stamp by Northwood Rubber Company was stamped over the prepared panel, trimmed and mounted to the card base.  The sentiment by The Stamp Pad Company was inked with Persimmon Distress Ink and distressed with Vintage Photo and Persimmon Distress Inks.  The young lady, one of my all time favorites, by Rubber Stampede, seemed to fit well with the sentiment.  She is stamped with Vintage Photo Distress Ink and mounted to brown and copper metallic paper and layered over a distressed doily on the card base.  Embellishments include bronze lace, photo corners, copper liquid pearls, a vintage button, burlap string from the Funkie Junkie Boutique and paper leaves.  Thanks for stopping by.  I'm also submitting my card to Sunday Share at the Frillie and Funkie Blog.Your comments and visits continue to encourage me.  Best wishes, Yvonne

Let it Snow!

Greetings!  Thank you so much for stopping by.  I'm sharing a card with you today that I made for a brand new Challenge Blog called Vintage Stamping Challenge.  I am most excited for this new challenge as I love all things vintage and because I have worked with the absolutely topnotch Design Team members on another challenge.  It's always nice to have an established connection like that.  For the first challenge, the theme is Anything Goes.  I decided to work with some images from Oxford Impressions.  The snowflakes and script were stamped in Tumbled Glass Distress Ink.  The little girl was stamped in Black StazOn Ink.  Festive Berries Distress Ink was used for the postmark and "Snow."  The entire panel was distressed with Pumice Stone Distress Ink.  Simple embellishments include ivory lace and a variety of vintage buttons. Thanks for dropping by!  Best wishes, Yvonne

Howdy Partner!

Thanks for dropping by!  This card was created for the newest challenge over at Our Creative Corner.  This week, the theme is "It's a Howdy Challenge."  We are to create a country or western project based on this beautiful country-inspired photograph.  In addition, we are to make sure to include plaid, check or tartan in some way.
For my card, I chose this image of a lady on a horse by Stamp Francisco and layered her over plaid designer paper.  The sentiment by Stampa Rosa was stamped on corrugated cardboard. The star is by Oxford Impressions.  Embellishments include tartan plaid braided ribbon, copper Liquid Pearls, and Idea-ology binder clip, vintage lace, a snippet of burlap and some vintage buttons that pull out the colors of the plaid background paper.  What a fun challenge! I'm planning to send this card to my best girlfriend, who recently broke her ankle.  She's a horsewoman and I'm sure she is hopeful she will be able to ride again soon.  Thanks again for all your visits. Best wishes, Yvonne

Joie de Vivre

Greetings!  It's a new month and that means Make My Monday has a new theme of French and a whole month of challenges around this theme.  This week, the specific theme is Paris.  As France is the only country I have had the privilege of visiting, so far, I was really, really excited to have a month of challenges that are all things French.  For my card, I chose to work with one of my absolute favorites plates called Paris Exposition by Artistic Outpost.  The hot air balloons were water colored with Distress Markers.  Fleur de Lis ribbon and black Liquid Pearls were selected for a simple, masculine accent.  Thanks so much for stopping by.  Yvonne
