Give Thanks Every Day!

Greetings!  Thanks for dropping by today.  My post today is for two challenges.  The first is for the new "Be Inspired" Challenge over at Unity Stamps.  I am very excited to have been selected as the winner of last month's challenge over at Unity!

I like how you can pick from three challenges.  I am always drawn to the color challenge!  For my own card, I was inspired by the work of Kate Yetter.  I am so drawn to her distinctive stylized cards.  For my own card, I began with hot press water color paper.  I spritzed on several Distress Ink Stains and then added torn pieces of a vintage book page using fluid matte medium.  More Distress Ink Stains were added along with a spritz of water for dripping. (All images and the sentiment are by Unity Stamps.)  The beautiful butterflies, were inked and stamped next.  I added of washi tape.  The focal image "Grace" was stamped on scrap hot press water color paper and colored with Towbow Markers.  It was trimmed and added to the panel.  A sentiment was stamped in the lower right hand corner.  A few Viva Décor Liquid Pearls complete my card.   My card is also for the new challenge at Make My Monday where the theme is "Things with Wings."

Afternoon Tea

Greetings! Back today with a mixed media card made for the new challenge over at Make My Monday where the theme is "Coffee or Tea."  After looking through my rubber stamp images, I pulled various images from three different Artistic Outpost sets to use as the focal point of my card.  The background was made using hot press water color paper and spritzed with Cherry Pie and London Blue Dylusion Ink Spray.  Titanium White Golden Acrylic Paint was also flicked onto the prepared panel.  The various focal images were stamped with Archival Inks, trimmed, water colored with TowBow Markers and the edges distressed with Vintage Photo Distress Ink.  Some chrome Viva Décor Liquid Pearls and a vintage seam binding bow complete my card.  I am also entering my card at the Artistic Outpost Show Us Your Art Challenge.  Thanks for dropping by. Hugs, Yvonne

The Sky's the Limit

Greetings! My card today was created for the current challenge over at Make My Monday, where the theme is "Trees or Leaves."  As I was searching through my tree stamps, I remembered recently receiving some Photo Chips of trees from DarkRoom Door as a thank you for ordering.  A departure from all the color I have used lately, but I found it soothing somehow to work with black and white and neutral tones.  The sentiment is by Red Lead Paperworks, the ribbon is from Funkie Junkie Boutique and the pearls are Viva Décor.  Thanks for stopping by.  Hugs, Yvonne

Time to Fly

Greetings!  My post today is for the current challenge over at Make My Monday where the theme celebrates Earth Day and Nature.  I really love bird imagery and was excited to pull out some older stamps from Red Lead Paperworks.  I began by applying Bister to Hot Press Watercolor paper.  I wasn't sure I needed Bister when I purchased it, as I already have Brusho, but am glad that I decided to get it after all.  The colors are much more muted, perfect for this type of scene.  The birds were watercolored with TowBow Markers and the edge of the panel was stamped with Vintage Photo Distress Ink.  A simple bow fashioned from ribbon purchased from the Funkie Junkie Boutique and my card is complete.  Thanks for stopping by! Hugs, Yvonne

April Showers

Happy Monday everyone!  Back today with a card I created for two challenges.  The first is for the new challenge over at Make My Monday where the theme is April Showers.  My card was also created for the challenge over at Mixed Media Monthly Challenge, which is also looking for projects with a theme of April Showers.

To create my card, I began with a piece of hot press water color paper.  I added Brusho Cyrstals in four colors to the card and spritzed with water.  When dry, I stamped raindrops by Designs by Ryn, repeatedly over the card panel.  A bit of white ink was added to each drop to make them glisten!  A strip of Washi Tape by Scarlet Lime was added to the bottom of the card panel.  The focal image is by Unity Stamps and was stamped on scrap card, fussy cut and colored with TowBow Markers and mounted to the card panel.  The sentiment, by Oxford Impressions was stamped on scrap card and secured to the card panel with washi tape from 3M. The panel was matted with black paper and attached to a card blank.

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog.  I truly appreciate every visit and thoroughly enjoy your comments.  Hugs, Yvonne

Cherry Blossoms

Hello and welcome to my blog! My post today is for the current challenge over at Make My Monday, which is about to close! We are to create a project inspired by  hand painted painting below:

I chose to begin with a piece of hot pressed water color paper and then added washes of pink and light blue.  The branches and cherry blossoms are a stencil from Red Lead Paperworks.  I added them with a light coat of Pumice Stone Distress Ink and then water colored over top of the stenciled portions of the card.  The birds are stamp images from Red Lead Paperworks, which were stamped onto the card panel and water colored as well. A splattering of metallic water color and a metal corner complete my card.  I decided to add a sentiment as I have a number of friends who have lost a parent recently and I thought the card was soothing.  Always difficult for me to create sympathy cards.  Thanks so much for stopping by.  Hugs, Yvonne

Girly Birthday Wishes

Greetings! Thank you, as always, for stopping by today.  I recently popped over to one of my first ever challenge sites that I joined called Make My Monday and saw they are having a "Girly Birthday" challenge.  I decided to join in and cooked up the following card.  The perfume bottles by Crafty Individuals are stamped onto the card base with Watering Can Archival Ink.  Audrey is stamped with Black Archival Ink, trimmed and mounted to the card front over a frilly pink doily.  The sentiment, by Hero Arts was added next.  I decided to add a bit of pink and red dotted washi tape for a punch of color.  Thanks for all your inspiring and encouraging comments.  Best, Yvonne

Happy Christmas!

Greetings! It has been ages since I have made a card for a challenge over at Make My Monday.  I noticed their theme this week was to create a Holiday Project around "Santa, The Big Guy."  I just acquired this gorgeous set of images from Artistic Outpost called Snowy Woods and thought I would join MMM's challenge.  I began with a background paper from Tim Holtz, which I distressed with Vintage Photo Distress Ink.  The focal image and sentiment were stamped with Fired Brick Distress Ink and the edges were blended with Vintage Photo Distress Ink. The focal image in my mind carries the card so I kept my embellishments to a minimum.  The burlap, snowflake, button and burlap string are thank you gifts from The Funkie Junkie Boutique.  The tartan plaid bow, game piece and cheese cloth are from my stash.  I am also entering my card over at the November Artistic Outpost Referral Program.  Thanks for dropping by! Hugs, Yvonne

Be Not Simply Good, Be Good for Something

Greetings!  This post is for the current challenge over at Make My Monday where they are doing a Literary Challenge around Jane Eyre.

Our project can an interpretation of the book cover shown above or around the story itself.  I chose to be inspired by the book cover though the sentiment by Artistic Outpost could easily be about the book content.  The focal image, fan and perfume bottle label are from Crafty Individuals.  The images were stamped with Black StazOn Ink and water colored portions were painted with Spun Sugar Distress Ink.  I really enjoyed this challenge.  Pink, Black and White bring back many memories for me of my childhood, back in the day!  Thanks for dropping by.  Yvonne

One Day at a Time

Greetings!  A special shout out to my newest follower!  I so appreciate every one of my followers.  My post today is for the latest challenge over at Make My Monday where the theme this week is to create a project around a Blue and Brown color scheme.  I began by marbling the card base with Chipped Sapphire and Frayed Burlap Distress Paint and softening the edges with Vintage Photo Distress Ink.  The background reminds me of steam coming from the top of a steam locomotive.  I decided to stamp this gorgeous train by Sam Poole, distressed the edges with more VP DI and matted the train with corrugated cardboard.  The sentiment and gauge are also by Sam Poole.  I wanted my card to tell a story and so I chose these two images by Crafty Individuals.  Are the man and woman traveling together? Are they saying a bittersweet good-bye as one of them embarks upon a new life far away? Are they strangers that fate has brought together for an unknown destiny? Some vintage dark blue seam binding, several metal cog wheels by Idea-ology and Copper Liquid Pearls completes my card.  Thanks so much for dropping by. Yvonne

Dream, Explore, Discover

Greetings! It is Wednesday, which means another Word Wednesday Challenge over at 365 Cards.  This week, the word is "Discover."  As soon as I saw the word, I immediately knew that I would work with images from Artistic Outpost.  I began by using Frayed Burlap, Broken China, and Weathered Wood Distress Paints.   The images and sentiments were stamped on card stock and distressed with Vintage Photo Distress Inks.  The main image was matted with burlap fabric.  I made a bit of a bow out of the scraps pulled to fringe the edges of the matting.  Buttons and burlap string complete my card.  This card will also be entered at Make My Monday, Artistic Outpost's Referral Program and Bloggers Challenge where the challenge in each case is to create your own background.  Thanks so much for stopping by.  Yvonne

Untie Your Wings

Greetings!  It is Monday, and that can only mean one thing, another challenge at Make My Monday.  This week, the challenge is to create a "One Layer Card."  There is to be no matting, layering or embellishments.  That's why it's a challenge!  I pulled out my white card stock, cut an 8x8 card base and got started.  I smooshed Bundled Sage, Peeled Paint and Weathered Wood Distress Paints onto my craft mat, spritzed water and drug the card base through it.  I tilted the card base to get runs and then air dried it.  Next I stamped this beautiful, new stamp image and sentiment from Red Lead Stamps with Black StazOn Ink.  I could not resist filling in a bit of the white space with Broken China Distress Ink stenciled through a Dylusions and Tando Stencil.  I'll also be submitting this card to the Frilly and Funkie Challenge for the Sunday Share as the Distress Paints were purchase at The Funkie Junkie Boutique at a great price.  I hope you have a beautiful week.  Hugs, Yvonne

Easter Basket

Greetings!  I would like to give a warm welcome to my newest followers.  Thank you so much for encouraging me in this journey.  My card today is for the current challenge over at Make My Monday.  We are to create a project that is inspired by the book cover below.  I had not heard of this book before, but MMM was kind enough to provide a summary that you might be interested in viewing.

It has been one of those weeks where I longingly look into my art studio with little time to create.  And so, I pondered on what I might create, if I got a few stolen moments and a vision of simple Sissix Die Cut Vines in similar colors to the book cover came to mind.  Like the book cover, I added a central focal point in black and white with a beautiful image from Gecko Galz.  Rather than replicate the butterflies, I chose to add touches of white with some beautiful white lace purchased at The Funkie Junkie Boutique.  As I will most certainly need a few more Easter Cards, I added a sentiment by Studio G to complete my card along with my absolute favorite fiber choice, seam binding.  I hope you are having a wonderful day.  Hugs, Yvonne

Colorful Chickadees

There's a new challenge over at Make My Monday.  This week, they are looking for Nature inspired projects that are not "cute."  I decided to use this beautiful image by Gecko Galz, matted with black card stock and layered over a Kraft Card Base that has been stamped with trees inked with London Fog Memento Ink.  Some ivory burlap cloth from The Funkie Junkie Boutique, burlap string, a feather and button, some copper Liquid Pearls and some ChitChat Stickers complete my card. I'll also be entering this at Sunday Share over at Frilly and Funkie. Thanks for dropping by! Best wishes, Yvonne.

Dance, dance, dance!

Greetings! There's a new challenge over at Make My Monday.  This week, it's a color challenge of pink and black.  I began with a black card base, wrapped pink lace around the bottom, tore bits of card stock that sopped up distress inks from my craft mat from a previous project.  The focal image is a digital image from Gecko Galz.  The sentiment on a scrap of digital background paper, also from GG, is from Art Declassified. Finishing touches include Tissue Tape from Idea-ology, and vintage seam binding and buttons.  Hopefully, this will work, as I am doing this with a mobile device.  Thanks for dropping by. Yvonne

Christmas Greetings

Hello! Major computer issues the past few days.  I hope everyone is well. My card today is for two challenges. The first challenge is Ribbon and Buttons at Make My Monday and the second is for the latest challenge at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown where we are to include a heart and a love sentiment. I chose to use the image above from Alpha Stamps of a winged child holding a love banner.  The background paper by Gecko Galz has snowflakes on it.  The paper doily heart holds a Christmas Sentiment.  Snippets of string, seam binding, lace and buttons complete my card. Thank you for stopping by. Wish me luck with working out this computer issue. Best, Yvonne

Baby, You're A Star!

Hello!  Still Monday here, and that means a new challenge over at Make My Monday.  This week, our challenge is to create a project with a charm on it.  My previous post showcased some other images and sentiments from the Picture Star plate by Artistic Outpost. After going through my small stash of charms I came across this star and realized that some of the other images and sentiments in this same plate would work well with for this card too.  I began by grabbing four different Distress Inks Worn Lipstick, Mustard Seed, Milled Lavender, and Wild Honey from my stash and smooshing them onto my Craft Mat, spritzing with water and building up layers of color.  I stamped some images with Wild Honey onto the prepared background.  The focal images were stamped with Timber Brown StazOn Ink, trimmed water colored and added next.  The stars, also from the same plate, were stamped, trimmed and water colored with Distress Markers and scattered onto the card front.  The sentiment was stamped in Worn Lipstick DI.  Chrome liquid pearls were added to the corners to add a bit of sparkle.  Thanks for stopping by.  Best wishes, Yvonne

Remember Me...

This post is for the current Make My Monday Challenge. This time around, we have a Literary Challenge based on inspiration from the cover of the Jane Austen Classic shown below.

For my card, I was inspired by the young lady, her hat, and the flowering trees.  I began with a beautiful flowered digital paper from Gecko Galz for the background.  The focal image is from Stampsmith. Vintage seam binding, buttons, lace and a paper doily seemed appropriate as finishing touches.  Thanks for stopping by.  Yvonne

One for the Boys!

Greetings! It's Monday and that means a new challenge over at Make My Monday.  The theme this week is "One for the Boys."  I began by smooshing Old Paper, Pumice Stone and Evergreen Bough Distress Ink onto a craft mat, adding water and sopping up the inks.  The time pieces from the Auld Lang Syne plate from Artistic Outpost were stamped over the background.  The main image from the Think and Wonder plate, also by AO, was stamped on scrap card stock, matted and added to the card front.  The smaller image on the lower right is also from AO.  Lots of Tim Holtz elements finish off my guy card.  I found dark blue green buttons that go perfectly with the background, which really thrilled me.  Thanks for dropping by.  Best wishes, Yvonne.
