Leaping through the Poppys

 

Greetings friends! I am back today with a card I created for the newest challenge for Eclectic Ellapu. For the month of July, it's "Anything Goes" for the Pink Team.  I was in the mood to pay with napkins so I tore up a guest towel and layered it onto a water color panel.  I had some scrap black and white paper laying on my table so I added it, as well.  I decided not to fill in all the white space and instead stenciled polka dots with embossing paste.  The focal image by Unity Stamps is one of my favorites. I added a touch of lace and a bow to give the card a bit more texture.  I know you will enjoy seeing what the rest of the design team dreamed up for you and I hope that you will consider sharing a piece of your own for our challenge. Life is the Flower

 

Greetings and thank you for stopping by today! There's a new challenge over at Fashionable Stamping Challenge.  This time, the challenge theme is "Beautiful Blooms." Perfect for June! I chose to ink up this Donna Downey Poppy Flower Stamp by Unity Stamps. It is huge at 7" tall.  I stamped it onto watercolor paper after inking the stamp with TomBow Markers.  I outlined the flowers with black ink to give them more definition and added a bit more color to some of the blooms.  The little fairy girl is by Red Lead Paperworks and was stamped onto the panel and watercolored with TomBow Markers, as well.  The sentiment is by Oxford Impressions. Texture was added with Black embossing paste through stencils, all by Wendy Vecchi. Scraps of torn book page were added and then the piece was matted and mounted to a card base. Finished size is 8" x 8."

Be Strong, Be Brave

 

 

Greetings and thank you for stopping by.  Today, I am sharing with you a card that I made for the new challenge over at Inkspirational where this time our theme is "Recipe."  We are to use at least 3 of the 4:  Embossing, Distressing, Flowers and Pearls. In the end, I ended up using all four on my project!  I hope you will pop on over to see what the rest of the Design Team has dreamed up for you and then submit a project of your own. 

 

For my  own piece, I began with a piece of hot press water color paper, which I distressed with a Tim Holtz distressing tool. I painted it with a beautiful shade of turquoise water colors, then spritzed and dripped more of the same onto the panel.  The flowers by Donna Downey for Unity were stamped on more water color paper and water colored and highlighted with a black and white ink pen.  The stems were free handed and water colored, as well.  The stamens in the flowers are Black Viva Décor Liquid Pearls.  To complete my card, I embossed with Black Embossing Paste, by Wendy Vecchi, through a stencil by Red Lead Paperworks.

Strong Women

Greetings and thank you for dropping by my blog today.  I found myself not entering challenges after joining a number of Design Teams and after my husband had a major stroke last year.  It occurred to me recently that I might like to try my hand at it again.  I popped over to one of my all time favorite challenges, Our Creative Corner, and found a Tic Tac Toe Challenge going on.  I chose "Paint, Stamps and Stencils" as my challenge.  I began with a piece of watercolor paper, which I misted with water and then added several colors of Dylusions Spray Inks.  When dry I sprayed more water onto the panel.  I stenciled with a Tim Holtz Stencil and Wendy Vecchi Black Embossing Paste.  I splattered Dr. Ph Martin's Black ink on the panel and then splatted Goldens High Flow Acrylic Paint in white and allowed the larger drops to drip.  The flower is by Donna Downey and colored with TowBow Markers.  The images and sentiment are by Dina Wakely.  I would also like to submit my card for the Drips and Drops Challenge over at the Country View Crafts.  Thanks for stopping by. Flowers Everywhere!

Greetings!  This is my very first card created in my new home, from my new art studio.  I finally found my paper cutter in the middle of the night last night in another room of the house!  It really felt good to get inky again, though a bit uncomfortable as I try to relearn where all my supplies are in my new space.  This card is for the challenge over at Eclectic Ellapu where the challenge theme for the Pink Team is "Flowers."  The flowers can be a focal point, an embellishment, the background, or whatever you like.  I chose to use them as my background.  The large flower is by Paper Artsy and was stamped with Black Archival Ink.  The smaller gold flowers were embossed with Gold Embossing Paste and a stencil, both by Wendy Vecchi.  The focal image by Tim Holtz was stamped several times, trimmed and pieced together using Archival Ink.  The edges were distressed lightly with Distress Ink.  A simple black and white piece of twine was fashioned into a bow at the top of the card. Get Your Kicks on Route 66!

Greetings!  Thanks for stopping by.  My post today is an 8" x 10" canvas that I created for the new challenge that starts today over at Eclectic Ellapu.  Our theme is "Around the World, Land, Country or Holiday." After looking through my stamp images, I decided to stay in the USA this time, and pulled out this vintage set of images from Artistic Outpost called Route 66. My canvas is a "Road Trip" on Route 66! There is a song call "Get Your Kicks on Route 66 from 1946 that has been recorded by numerous artists and pays homage to US Route 66 highway, which used to run a long distance across the US, from Chicago, IL to Los Angeles, CA.  I began by selecting Ranger Distress Paints in colors that reminded me of the desert.  I stenciled some Wendy Vecchi Black Embossing Paste using a Tim Holtz Stencil in the bottom corner.  Images from Artistic Outpost were stamped with Ranger Archival Ink on tissue paper or scrap card stock and water colored with Ranger Distress Inks and adhered to the canvas.  A bit of burlap and some mini sprockets by Idea-ology add a bit of dimension.  I hope you will visit EE and check out all the other inspiration samples by the talented Design Team and then consider submitting a piece of your own for us to enjoy!  Thanks for stopping by.  Hugs, Yvonne

Today I Will Stand Quietly...

Greetings! The weeks fly by so quickly and already it is time for another challenge over at Inkspirational!  This time, we are creating a project based on the photo below.  The picture is The Firebird by Edmund Dulac who was famous for illustrating fairy tales. 

What a fascinating photo!  I knew I wanted to use this beautiful, new to me stamp of trees by Hero Arts and stamped it with Midnight Blue StazOn Ink.  The fairy and sentiment are by Red Lead and were inked for the first time, as well.  A bit of Wendy Vechhi's Embossing Paste and a Tim Holtz stencil add sparkle to my card, along with some Dresden trim by Retro Art Cafe.  I hope you will pop over to Inkspirational to see what the rest of the Design Team have come up with and then create a project of your own to share with us.  Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Steampunk in Black and White

Greetings dear friends!  Thanks so much for stopping by today.  My card above is for the current challenge over at Eclectic Ellapu, which is "Black and White."  I do not often work in just black and white, but I really do like this color combination and found this to be a very enjoyable challenge. Beginning with a blank white card base, I used Wendy Vecchi's Black Embossing Paste with a Tim Holtz Stencil in the upper left corner.  Various black and white tissue tapes by Idea-ology were added next.  Also by Idea-ology, are the rub-ons I added to the card front.  The images, inked for the first time, are by Lost Coast Designs.  The sentiments are by Artistic Outpost.  Buttons and Idea-ology Sprockets, which were painted with Black Soot Distress Paint complete my card.  This is our last challenge until the new year.  I hope you will stop over and see all the gorgeous samples by the rest of the Design Team, and then, create a project of your own.  

I am also entering my card over at Our Creative Corner where they are having a Steampunk Challenge with Tic Tac Toe, having used Gears, Texture (buttons) and Transport.  What a fun challenge!

Gathering Leaves

Greetings! There's a new challenge over at Eclectic Ellapu, and the Pink Team has stepped up to the challenge to create projects for the theme of "Celebrating Autumn."  Please stop over and check out their beautiful projects, and I hope you will be inspired to create one of your own.  I just love this time of year and really enjoyed working on this canvas.  I began by smooshing most of the recently released Seasonal Distress Paints onto a Craft Sheet and then spritzed with a bit of water and dredged the canvas through the paint. Several Tim Holtz Stencils were stenciled onto the canvas with Distress Inks and the honeycomb stencil, also by Tim Holtz, was embossed with Embossing Paste that was tinted with Gathered Twigs Distress Paint.  The stamped images are by Finnabair for Prima.  The gorgeous clip art is by Gecko Galz.  I hope you will join us and submit a project that celebrates Autumn. Happy Birthday!

It's Wednesday! It's time for a new challenge over at Inkspirational! This time, we are challenged to create a project using the color scheme below:

Now, with color challenges, your are pretty much wide open for what you create.  I decided it was time to ink up a new to me Tim Holtz Blueprint Stamp.  The image was watercolored with Distress Markers and then glittered up with some Mustard Seed Distress Glitter.  The background needed something, so I added Black Embossing Paste using a stencil, both by Wendy Vecchi.  Our sponsor this month is "Inspired by Stamping."  One lucky participant who completes all the September challenges will win a $20 gift card! Hip Hip Hooray!

Greetings! It's Wednesday and time for another Word Wednesday over at 365 Cards.  This week, our word is Confetti! How will you interpret your project?  Looking through my clip art images, I came across this one from Gecko Galz.  I envisioned confetti coming out of the musician's horn and off I went!  Still working my way through the Tim Holtz Stencils, this time with the Stars Stencil.  I used Wendy Vecchi Gold Embossing Paste on the stencil.  The sentiment stamps are by AMuse Stamps.  Vintage seam binding completes my card.  I cannot wait to see your take on the challenge!  Take care, Yvonne

Our Story

Greetings! For some time, I have wanted to give working with a canvas a try.  I finally decided to jump in today.  This canvas was prepared for a new challenge over at Our Creative Corner where Alison has challenged us to create a project around "Words, words, words."  I began smooshing various shades of Distress Paint on my craft mat, spritzed with water and pressed my canvas into the paint. Gold embossing paste by Wendy Vecchi was stenciled using Wendy Vecchi stencils.  The boy and girl, a stencil by Andy Skinner, were painted with Distress Paint.  The buttons were covered with Tarnished Brass DP and the words are rub-ons by 7 Gypsies.  I am still traveling and may have been tempted to add more to my canvas if I were back home, but I am very happy with my first attempt. Happiness is Like a Butterfly

Greetings! It is Wednesday and time for another Word Wednesday Challenge over at 365 Cards.  Our word this week is "Butterfly." This week our sponsor is DRS Designs.  I selected this beautiful focal image and sentiment from DRS Designs.  The focal image was stamped with Gelatos and edged lightly with Mowed Lawn Distress Ink.  I painted the edge of a piece of white card stock with Gelatos and water to mat the focal image.  The single butterfly is a portion of the same stamp, and was stamped on a wood charm that was inked with Squeezed Lemonade DI and distressed with Mowed Lawn DI. Gelatos were rubbed randomly to create polka dots on the card base and a touch of green was added with a Wendy Vecchi stencil. A bit of green seam binding and some yellow Liquid Pearls complete my card.  I hope you will join us for this week's challenge.  Hugs, Yvonne

This Is the Life!

One more card to share with you today! This one is for the current challenge over at Our Creative Corner where the theme is "Captured Memories." Our project must include a photograph on it.  I received the photograph image above with a recent order from Red Lead and thought it was a wonderful starting point to create a card for the challenge.  I matted the image with a piece of white card stock that was stenciled with a Wendy Vecchi stencil.  The collage images were stamped with Timber Brown StazOn Ink over the card front and water colored with Distress Markers.  The tickets, also by Red Lead, were stamped, water colored and added with dimensional foam dots. Snippets of seam binding, cheese cloth, twine, some metal shell charms, a wood word disc and bottle filled with sand completes my card.  We are celebrating my youngest daughter's birthday this weekend and have chosen this card as her birthday card.  I hope she likes it.  Thanks for dropping by.  Best wishes, Yvonne
