There's a new challenge over at 365 Cards for Word Wednesday. The word this week is "Rain." For my focal image, I am working with an image and sentiment from this week's sponsor Liastampz. The image was colored with Copic Markers and mounted onto orange card stock. I added touches of turquoise card stock to help pop the colors To complement the inside of the umbrella, I added yellow seam binding and liquid pearls. I hope you will consider joining us with a card of your own! Thanks for stopping by. Best wishes, Yvonne

Retro Baby!
Hello! It's Wednesday, and that means it is time for another Word Challenge over at 365 Cards. This week, the word is Retro! For my card, I layered this scrap of salvaged gift wrap that has peace signs in it, if you look closely to a red card base. The digi image is by this week's sponsor, Paper Pretties. I chose a red and white palette for the ensemble and colored with Copic Markers. The sentiment is also by Paper Pretties. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with for the word Retro! Best wishes, Yvonne

Lullaby and Goodnight!
Hello! Happy Tuesday to you. Sharing a card with you today that I made for the newest challenge over at Bloggers Challenge. This week, the theme is "Oh Baby." Mine is a simple card, short on technique, but I am pleased with the outcome. I began with a white card base and layered a paper doily over it. I added a portion of an illustration from designer paper from Graphic 45 to the top half of the doily. Winter white seam binding was tied around the card base into a bow and a small applique was attached in the center of the bow. The sentiment and baby carriage by Hampton Arts for Graphic 45 were stamped with Black StazOn ink and carefully colored with Copic Markers to avoid bleeding. To accentuate the blue in the card, liquid pearls were added to all four corners of the card base. Have you joined in Bloggers Challenge yet? It's a great way to increase your skill level. Thanks for dropping by. Best wishes, Yvonne

Breaking All the Rules
Greetings everyone. I hope those of you who celebrated Easter had a lovely time with your family. Our time together was lovely. Today I have a card to share with you that showcases one of the new images in the Quote and Quotables. It is a quote by Katharine Hepburn. My immediate thought when seeing this quote was to use it with the Flapper Fashions images. I began with a Mousse Souffle card base. A scroll work design was stamped in each corner with Black StazOn ink. A black doily was layered onto the card base followed by a TH Cabinet Card die cut that was stamped with a Flapper definition. Black liquid pearls were added around the edges. Two flappers were stamped on scrap card stock and trimmed and colored with Copic Markers and mounted to the card front with dimensionals. The sentiment was stamped and then punched out into a circle and backed with another black circle. More black liquid pearls were added to the sentiment circle. Finishing embellishments include black and gold ribbon and a decorative brad. Thanks for stopping by and have a fabulous week. Yvonne

Words of Wisdom
Greetings! Been under the weather for the last 36 hours. I don't usually get sick, so it really threw me for a loop. It took me most of the day to get into my studio, but sick or not, a card was calling me! This card is for the Gingersnap Creations Challenge - Words of Wisdom. I immediately thought of the Typography plate by Artistic outpost. I stamped it in Black Memento ink and then cut it apart and matted the words with black paper. I layered a doily to the card front, and stamped my image, from the Think and Wonder plate, also by Artistic Outpost and added soft color with PanPastels. The bird is from Birds of a Feather, by Artistic Outpost is colored with Copic Markers. Embellishments include lace trim , pearls and seam binding fashioned into a bow.Pin ItThursday, January 26, 2012
MMM Challenge # 33 - Leaves and Flowers
Back again, with a second post for today! This post is for a Make My Monday Challenge - Nature (Leaves and Flowers). As I headed up to my art studio to work on this challenge, I gave some thought to what direction to go. When I thought of flowers, this old standby from Hero Arts came to mind. I stamped it with Festive Berries and Peeled Paint Distress inks. I chose paper leaves with a text imprint and stamped my background with this sweet little heart balloon from A Muse stamps that I just discovered in my stash earlier today and colored them in with a Copic Marker. With Valentine's Day coming up, I thought adding a doily and a loving sentiment by Studio G complete my card. I hope you are having a good day. My best to each of you. Yvonne

Make My Monday - Challenge 13 - Wings and Things
The final Wings and Things challenge, Challenge 13, over at Make My Monday is to create a project based on a photo as inspiration. The Design Team had some really great inspiration samples to get us started. My first thought was a piece of background paper I had for several years with bird cages on it by Basic Grey. I framed one of the bird cages with a die cut frame by Sissix. I added pearls to the frame and birds on pop dots by TPC Studio that were lightly colored in with Copic Markers. Regrettably, I do not know where the sentiment is from. The flowers are by Martha Stewart. I am also entering this card in the current Bloggers Challenge - Tic-Tac-Toe challenge. I chose to use flowers, bling and ribbon. Thanks so much for stopping by and have a great day. Yvonne

Fashionable Stamping Challenges - Anything Goes
I received a very nice comment on my blog yesterday from someone. In the course of paying a visit to their blog and thanking them for stopping by, I read about a new challenge that was just beginning, along with an opportunity to join the Design Team. The blog is called Fashionable Stamping Challenges and explains how the blog came to be. Since I love fashion, I thought I would give it a go! For the very first challenge, it is "Anything Goes." I chose to go with a fashion-oriented design. I just love the images and sentiments in the Fashion Flappers plate by Artistic Outpost. I used some Distress Inks to add a vintage feel to my card and Copic Markers to color the main image. As embellishments, I added some sewing notion stickers by Mr. Tim Holtz. Really excited to meet some more artists with this new and exciting challenge. Hope you'll consider leaving a comment. Thanks and have a great weekend. Yvonne

Tuesday Trigger - Luminous Layers
Was counting the days until the next Tuesday Trigger. I am blown away by the winners entries from the last Tuesday Trigger called Cherished Squares. I decided this time for Luminous Layers to NOT be so literal in my translation, sort of! I began by pulling out papers that I thought replicated the layers in the dress. I meticulously cut the strips in varying lengths, which is pretty hilarious because once I decided to added fashion images, by Art Declassifed, you cannot even tell the lengths are different. The sentiment is also by Art Declassified. The image is colored with Copic Markers and the card stock is softened with Antique Linen Distress Ink. Hoping everyone is having a good week. Make My Monday - Challenge 10 - Birds or Bugs
I really look forward to each new challenge at Make My Monday. For August, the overall theme is "Wings and Things." For this week, it is specifically for either Birds or Bugs. I must tell you that I absolutely LOVE birds and really thought hands down I would have a card with birds on it. I surprised myself by grabbing this gorgeous plate of images by Character Construction instead. A little Distress Ink, Copic Markers and some glitter via Spica Markers. Not sure you can see the glistening wings on the bees, but trust me, it's there. Looking forward to seeing every one's entries. Have a great week. Yvonne

365 Cards - Day 152 - Saturday Background Challenge
Great week of Challenges at 365 Cards. We've been working on backgrounds all week. For Day 152, we finish with painting the background of our cards. Not something I normally do! I dug out some old Folk Art paint bottles, selected a pale yellow and green, and dry brushed first the yellow and than the green onto the entire card front. I thought the green/yellow background would look nice set off with black so I tore a piece of tissue rescued from a shoe box and adhered it to the left side of my card. For my focal image, I stamped this gentleman called "Dreamer" by Art Declassified, colored it with Copic Markers and matted it in black and green. The sentiment is by Artistic Outpost and I thought went well with a dreamer. To finalize my card, I added black buttons, black liquid pearls and black and white check ribbon. Looking forward to a new week of challenges. Hope everyone had a great weekend. Yvonne

CAS-ual Fridays Challenge - CFC13

I discovered a new challenge called CAS-ual Fridays. No my non-card making friends, I recently learned that CAS stands for Clean and Simple, which I guess is pretty self-explanatory. For Challenge #13, we are to make the card to measure 4" by 9". I am comfortable with this size and make a number of cards in this format, so it was all good for me! I highlighted the front of the white card with Distress Ink in Broken China to give a soft illusion of clouds. I stamped the balloon three times in black Memento Ink directly onto the card front and colored the balloons with Copic Markers. The balloon and the sentiment are both by Studio 112. To finish my card, I added some gemstones by Bazzil and some black liquid pearls by Viva Decor. I resisted the urge to do more with my card and called it a night. Looking forward to making new friends who also follow this blog challenge. Thanks for dropping by. Yvonne

MMM Challenge 8 - Vintage Lace and Pearls
Wow! Monday's come fast at Make My Monday! I really am enjoying this challenge blog. It is helping me to branch out and create cards I might not ordinarily create. As the title implies, we continue to make vintage cards this week for Challenge 8 with an emphasis on lace and pearls. Does the fact that I had to go out and buy pearls last week and this week tell you my style is not normally vintage?? I decided on a pink background paper, actually a card trimmed to fit another card blank, a leftover Christmas blank card with a deckle edge. I border punched the pink panel with a punch by Martha Stewart, layered lace and seam binding over top and then began stamping my images and sentiment from a plate called Birds of a Feather by Artistic Outpost with Sepia ink by Versafine. The bird is by TPC Studios and the heart stickers and pink pearls are by Martha Stewart. I added distress inks and Copic markers for a hint of color. Looking forward to seeing everyone else's work! Thanks for stopping by. Yvonne
365 Cards - Day 147 - Monday Background Challenge
Greetings! Hoping everyone had a great weekend. Hard to believe hump day (Wednesday) is tomorrow already. I feel like I have been working on this card forever! It was done a few minutes at a time throughout yesterday and today around a bunch of other projects and appointments. The challenge for Day 147 at 365 Cards was the background. Specifically, half of the card is to be a solid background and half is to be polka dots, beyond that we were free to design the card to our liking. I pulled out the first polka dot paper I could find in my scrap bins and went from there. The baby blue color seemed to call for a baby card. I added various ribbons and then stamped the babies, by Stampin Up, and the sentiment in sepia ink by Versafine. The baby images were colored in with Copic Markers, although in looing at my post, most of the color does not show :-( This challenge really gave us lots of options. Looking forward to what everyone else comes up with. Thanks for stopping by. Yvonne
