Greetings! Still trying to get back on track with some challenges I previously enjoyed. The current challenge at Dragon Dreams Tag Challenge is called Dress for Success. We are to include a dress or mannequin, embossed surface and bling. I began by embossing the tag with a Cuddlebug floral embossing folder. Anyone else wish these folders came in larger sizes? The focal image by Dina Wakley was stamped with Timber Brown StazOn Ink on sticky back canvas. I added a smidgen of Worn Lipstick Distress Marker using a Dylusions Stencil. Some time ago, I rescued a dictionary that was going to be tossed at work. It pained me to tear a page out of it, but I finally mustered up the courage and added the definition of 'success' to my Tag. A bit of lace, buttons, a glittered heart sticker, a postmarked stamp, felt flower and Idea-ology ChitChat Stickers complete my tag. Thanks for dropping by. I appreciate every visit and word of encouragement. A special thanks to my newest followers! Best, Yvonne

Crisp Autumn Air
Greetings! This tag is for the most recent challenge over at Dragons Dream Tag it On. I have not had an opportunity to join in their challenges for awhile, so I was excited to do so this week. Their current theme is called Misty Autumn Glaze. We are asked to create an Autumn tag with at least one stamp image on it. The tag must also include Mica dust or ink spray and Glaze. I chose to mist my tag with three different Dylusions Ink Sprays. Cheese cloth was soaked in Distress Inks, dried and layered to the tag next. The focal image by Studio 112 was stamped onto a torn vintage book page, distressed with Vintage Photo Distress Ink and layered over the cheese cloth. The sentiment, by The Stamp Pad Company, was stamped on white card stock, smushed into Ripe Persimmon DI, cut apart and added to the tag. A snippet of Raven ribbon adorns the bottom of the tag. The oak leaves by PSX were stamped in Spiced Marmalade, Seedless Preserves, Festive Berries and Scattered Straw DI. I must admit, I have never used glaze before. I purchased some Perfect Pearls for my tag and applied it to the oak leaves. I really like glazing! What fun. As always, thanks for dropping by. Best wishes, Yvonne

Secret Garden

There's a new challenge at Dragons Dream Tag It On. This time, the challenge is to create a tag representing the book "Secret Garden." My first thought was to use the scroll work image from the Windows and Doors plate by Artistic Outpost. After stamping it with Black StazOn ink, and trimming it, Tumbled Glass Distress Ink was watercolored onto the stamped image. Using multiple images from the Flower Market plate, also by Artistic Outpost, images were stamped on the tag front to create the background. More images were stamped, trimmed and watercolored with Scattered Straw, Peeled Paint and Tattered Rose Distress Inks and adhered to the tag. Embellishments include beautiful lace purchased from the Frilly and Funkie Boutique, Winter White seam binding, a paper bird, a button and a binder clip. I am also entering this tag over at Frilly and Funkie's Sunday Share.

Angel of Hope
This is my second post for today, so please scroll down if you care to see the first! I created this tag for a challenge over at Dragons Dream Tag It On. This time, the theme is Angels and Demons. I decided to focus on Angels rather than Demons and the "Hope" rather than "Despair" they give. A pink Cabinet Card die cut by Tim Holtz was studded with White Liquid Pearls and layered above and below with pink and white paper doilies. The matted focal image is a clip art image from Crafty Individuals and the torn paper heart is stamped with a CI complimentary bird and touched with Ranger Stickles. The sentiment is by Stampa Rosa. Vintage seam binding in fucsia and pink and a large decorative metal brad complete the tag. Dragons Dream Tag It On Blog has really unique themes if you are looking for a unique challenge site. Thanks for stopping by! Yvonne

Vintage Alice in Wonderland
Happy Thursday! My first post today is for a challenge for DragonsDream Tag It On. If you have not yet checked out this challenge blog, I hope you will take a look. They have some great, unique challenges and an inspiring Design Team. This time around, the theme is to create a tag about Alice, Wonderland or Looking Glass. I first began with a tag in shades of blue and yellow, but deviated and decided to go with earth tones instead. Mushroom card stock was fashioned into a tag and embossed with a variety of Alice-related images from the Wonderland Collage plate by Artistic Outpost. To add texture, I stretched a re-purposed mesh bag from the grocery store across the tag. Additional images from the Wonderland Collage plate were stamped with Black StazOn ink onto white card stock and water colored with Pumice Stone, Tattered Rose, Scattered Straw, Broken China and the edges were distressed with Vintage Photo Distress Inks. Embossed clocks have black snap centers. Other embellishments include Ideology Spinners and a Philosophy Tag and vintage taupe seam binding ribbon. I hope you are having a wonderful day. Best Wishes, Yvonne

Birdsong
I recently came across a challenge blog called Dragrons Dream Tag It On (TIO) and am really enjoying the unique challenges they present us with each Wednesday. This week, our challenge is based on the novel "Bird Song." I must confess I was not familiar with the book, but I researched the plot and found it is based on WW 1, takes place in Paris and London, and involves romance and intrigue. Luckily, I also learned that PBS is airing Bird Song on Masterpiece Theater in April, so I hope to check it out. Looks like a good read, too! My tag includes images from a Miniature Book by Crafty Individuals, as well as stamped images from the Bluebird plate by Artistic Outpost. My tag began with a Mushroom colored card stock cut into a tag shape. As I studied the clip art images, I decided to pull out my PanPastels and voila, a mottled background of lavender, pink and purple! I began with white lace, but abandoned it for the intrigue of black lace. Oh the drama! A few pearls for the lady, some vintage black seam binding and a teacup for England, a magenta brad and some colorful braid for the top of my tag and my card is complete.

Dragon TIO - Time
There's a new challenge over at Dragon Dreams - Tag It On. The theme is "Time." For my tag, I blended some PanPastels onto ivory card stock in pinks, reds and yellows and then using Black StazOn ink, I stamped a number of stamps from the Whimsical Melange plate by Artistic Outpost onto my prepared panel and distressed the edges with Vintage Photo Distress Ink. The focal stamps by Hampton Art were stamped onto scrap ivory card stock, trimmed and distressed with Vintage Photo Distress Ink. The woman was mounted to a re-purposed gold doily and the clock and winged time piece were covered with glossy accent and mounted onto pop dots. The sentiment was created with Ideology stickers. Embellishments include vintage black seam binding and black and white baker's twine, black sewing snaps and stacked vintage buttons. My final step was to mount the tag to black paper to make the background pop. Thanks for dropping by!

Beyond the Sea, in Pastels
I don't often submit a post to more than one challenge at a time, but decided to do so when looking at a few today. The first challenge is for Bloggers' Challenge - Texturize It. This week Lisa challenges us to create a project with Texture! I also don't often make tags, but here we go. For my tag, I first colored a piece of white card stock with various shades of Pan Pastels. I stamped images from the Beyond the Sea plate from Artistic Outpost, using London Fog Memento Ink directly onto the chalked panel or onto scrap card stock. I trimmed the various images as shown and chalked them with more PPs. (I have not worked with pastels since Junior High, some 40+ years ago, and I have to tell you, I think I may be falling in love again!) The clam shell gatherer is added with pop dots for dimension, as is the starfish in the bottom right corner. For texture, I added a scalloped border with a punch by Martha Stewart, some vintage lace from my Lucky Bag, pearls, bakers' twine, cheese cloth and seam binding. This tag is also for the PanPastels UK Challenge - Use Two of Something (I chose two flocks of birds) and for a challenge that I only recently found called Dragons Dream Tag It On Challenge where the them for TIO #18 is The Beach. I hope everyone has a good weekend. I am off to Philadelphia tomorrow to see my family as we celebrate our newest grandson's first birthday. As our other grandchildren delight us with all they are pursuing as a 6 and 8-year old, we nearly forgot how much joy a new baby brings to an entire family until our precious little one arrived last January and captured our hearts! My best to you, YvonneThursday, December 29, 2011
TIO - Steampunk Birthday Greetings
I was looking for a challenge today, and really could not bring myself to do anything more for Christmas. I have been making a list of challenges to check out and came across a non-Christmas challenge at Dragons Dream Tag It On, which calls for a tag that is either Steampunk, Victoriana or Gothic-inspired. I have a number of birthdays coming up in January for men in my family so I decided to mount these gorgeous stamps by Sam Poole that I recently purchased. I checked the fine print, and you can either make a tag or mount the tag to a card, which is what I chose to do. I used a lot of Wild Honey and Vintage Photo Distress inks and embellishments include Copper Liquid Pearls and Black and White Baker's Twine. Unfortunately, I now find the challenge is closed, but that's okay. I'll definitely check out their challenges again. In the meantime, check out this blogspot for some gorgeous tags by their Design Team! Best, Yvonne
