Please Stay

I love this image by Queen's Dresser Drawers.  It is entitled "Empty Chair."  I chose to use it for the current challenge over at Simon Says Stamp and Show where the theme is " Color."  We are to create a project using our own chosen medium to Add color.  I began with white card stock.  ( I recently gave away nearly every piece of background paper that I owned in order to move to customized backgrounds.)  Though not as brilliant as perhaps some of the other entries for this challenge, I am always amazed that a few smooshes of Rusty Hinge and Bundled Sage Distress Paint and Peeled Paint Distress Ink and some sprinkles of water can create such a lovely, soft, colorful backdrop.  The chair image was also stamped with Rusty Hinge Distress Paint for a pop of color.  The word "stay" was created with the Secretary Pool Plate by Artistic Outpost.  Tissue tape and some paper string by Idea-ology and some vintage buttons complete my card. As If It Were Yesterday!

Greetings!  Welcome to my followers NEW and OLD!  I truly appreciate each one of you.  It is hard to believe, but it is time, once again for a new challenge over at Fashionable Stamping Challenge.  This time around, the challenge is to create a project around the theme of "Sentimental."  After giving this much thought, I decided upon this focal image by Queen's Dresser Drawers, which is extremely sentimental for me.  When I first saw the image, I was immediately taken back to my teenage years when my best friend and I walked to school and after school would often stop in down town to window shop, try on clothes and stop for a bowl of chili and a cherry coke!  To create my card, I began by marbling a piece of card stock with Rusty Hinge, Mowed Lawn, and Barn Door Distress Paint.  The panel was then distressed with Mowed Lawn and Vintage Photo Distress Ink.  The image was inked with Mowed Lawn Distress Ink and distressed, as well, with Mowed Lawn and Vintage Photo DI.  To the right of the image, the word "Friend" was created from a plate by Artistic Outpost called Secretary Pool.  Paper string and a Philosophy Tag by Tim Holtz Idea-ology complete my card.  I hope you will visit FSC to see what the rest of the Design Team has come up with and I hope you will consider creating and submitting a project of your own.  Our generous sponsor for the challenge, Flonscraft, is providing a $20 gift card, which someone will win.  Best of luck to you!  Yvonne

Calling All Cowgirls!

Happy Wednesday everyone!  Just a quick post tonight, to share a card I made for my dear son's wife for her birthday.  Valerie has always liked horses and went to college for Equestrian Studies.  I thought rather than images of horses this year that I would, instead, use this image by Queen's Dresser Drawer Stamps.  The sentiments around the edges are from A Muse Stamps.  Simple embellishments include a snippet of white burlap from The Funkie Junkie Boutique, vintage buttons, some Baker's Twine, a corrugated cardboard heart, and an Idea-ology flower charm.  I hope she likes it!  I am entering this post at my DT Sister, Brenda's, blog under Tuesday's Treasures.  The treasure on my card are the vintage buttons.  Every time I use some of my vanishing stash, I wonder what garment and from who's wardrobe the buttons came.  I am always thrilled when friends and family share old buttons with me and consider them treasures, indeed.  Thanks for stopping by.  Best wishes, Yvonne

Fashionable Stamping Challenges- It's A Guy Thing

Greetings! It's time for a brand new challenge over at Fashionable Stamping Challenge! This time around, we have a theme of "It's A Guy Thing." When I first began making cards, I struggled with making cards for guys. As time goes by, and as I have collected more masculine images, I am much more comfortable with designing masculine cards. For this post, I was excited to finally ink up this "Men with a Checkered Past" image by Queen's Dresser Drawers. I layered a vintage book page to a hounds tooth background paper, wrapped a length of brown twill tape around the papers and mounted them to a Kraft card base. My focal image was stamped on glossy paper and mounted to the card front with Kraft photo corners. To repeat the bee image on my main image, I stamped a bee from Character Constructions multiple times and watercolored the bees with Distress Inks onto a TH ticket stub. I also stamped a hat by Inkadinkado to replicate the hats in the main image. Finishing touches include a variety of vintage buttons, bits of twine and copper Liquid Pearls.
