One Day at a Time

Greetings!  A special shout out to my newest follower!  I so appreciate every one of my followers.  My post today is for the latest challenge over at Make My Monday where the theme this week is to create a project around a Blue and Brown color scheme.  I began by marbling the card base with Chipped Sapphire and Frayed Burlap Distress Paint and softening the edges with Vintage Photo Distress Ink.  The background reminds me of steam coming from the top of a steam locomotive.  I decided to stamp this gorgeous train by Sam Poole, distressed the edges with more VP DI and matted the train with corrugated cardboard.  The sentiment and gauge are also by Sam Poole.  I wanted my card to tell a story and so I chose these two images by Crafty Individuals.  Are the man and woman traveling together? Are they saying a bittersweet good-bye as one of them embarks upon a new life far away? Are they strangers that fate has brought together for an unknown destiny? Some vintage dark blue seam binding, several metal cog wheels by Idea-ology and Copper Liquid Pearls completes my card.  Thanks so much for dropping by. Yvonne

Happy Mother's Day

My heart is heavy as I watch the events unfold at the Boston Marathon as I create this post. This card is for a challenge at Simon Says Stamp and Show where the challenge is to use a Background stamp in some way on your project.  

I began by wrapping white lace in layers around my card base.  My new favorite past time of painting doilies with Distress Paints came next.  The center matting was created by repeatedly stamping a complimentary background stamp in Dusty Concord Distress Ink that I received from Crafty Individuals where I ordered some other images.  Layered over top, there is a focal image by Gecko Galz.  Several butterflies by Cavellini were stamped with more Dusty Concord DI and then embellished with Milled Lavender Distress Stickles and added to the card front.  Liquid Pearls, a vintage seam binding bow and button complete my card.  Thanks so much for stopping by. Dressmaker Dreams

Greetings!  A special thanks to my most recent followers.  In paticular, thank you to Kay Wallace who saw that I had 99 followers and made it 100!  Wasn't that sweet of her?  Her work is beautiful, if Kay is new to you, why not visit her blog?!  It is a beautiful Saturday in our part of the world.  Just a short post today for a new challenge over at Our Creative Corner.  I just could not resist joining in with the theme being "Fashion and Style." We are to include a mannequin, stitching or item of clothing. I decided to work with a plate of images from Oxford Impressions called Dress Forms and Corsetry.  I stamped a number of images on the card base in London Fog Memento Ink.  I layered a paper doily next, which was painted with Broken China Distress Paint.  (Thanks to Linda at The Funkie Junkie for making me aware that you could paint a papar doily!) The main images were stamped with Black StazOn Ink on card stock or white frayed edge fabric and layered over the doily.  Embellishments include a piece of crocheted lace, cheese cloth, vintage buttons, a metal scissors charm and gauze flowers by Tim Holtz.  A crinkled seam binding bow completes my card.  Time to ride my bike!  Enjoy this evening.  Hugs, Yvonne

Flower Power

This is my second attempt at a journal page.  This time, my post is for a challenge called "Flowers" over at Stampotique Designer Challenge.  I began by spraying orange, yellow and red Dylusions Ink Sprays onto my journal page.  The page was stenciled and stamped with more Dylusions stencils and stamp images.  Various quotes referencing flowers were added by hand with a black ink pen.  Thanks so much for dropping by today.  Yvonne 

Tis Spring

The current challenge over at Crafty Individuals is to create a project using CI images  around "Spring in Fashion."  I gathered up my CI images and decided to work with CI-147 Butterfly Trio Panel, CI-121 Teasel Collage, and the bird and nest from CI-329 Beautiful Birdcages.  When I think of spring, I think of nature.  The card base was marbleized with Spun Sugar and Broken China Distress Paints.  A layer of white burlap was applied next to soften the tone and set the stage for the delicate colors of nature's fashion parade.  The images were all stamped on Sticky Back Canvas and water colored with Distress Markers.  Buttons and cheesecloth, some tissue paper tape and a seam binding bow complete my card. Crafty Individuals is a wonderful stamp company.  If you have not yet checked them out, I hope you will. In the Pink

Greetings!  It is time for Challenge #15 at Inkspirational!  This week, we are creating a project based on the photo inkspiration below.  

I began by layering background paper from Gecko Galz onto a white card base. Next came pink lace and a doily.  The sweet image is also from Gecko Galz.  A button, bow, and paper flower in pink were added next.  Scraps of crocheted lace and a sentiment stamped in Worn Lipstick Distress Ink completes my card.  I hope you will check out what the rest of the Design Team has come up with and then I hope you will considering submitting a project of your own.  Thanks so much for dropping by.  Fondly, Yvonne

Dream, Explore, Discover

Greetings! It is Wednesday, which means another Word Wednesday Challenge over at 365 Cards.  This week, the word is "Discover."  As soon as I saw the word, I immediately knew that I would work with images from Artistic Outpost.  I began by using Frayed Burlap, Broken China, and Weathered Wood Distress Paints.   The images and sentiments were stamped on card stock and distressed with Vintage Photo Distress Inks.  The main image was matted with burlap fabric.  I made a bit of a bow out of the scraps pulled to fringe the edges of the matting.  Buttons and burlap string complete my card.  This card will also be entered at Make My Monday, Artistic Outpost's Referral Program and Bloggers Challenge where the challenge in each case is to create your own background.  Thanks so much for stopping by.  Yvonne
