Greetings! First, I want to thank each of my followers who reached out to me recently concerning the loss of my beloved, Josephine. I really appreciated your support. My post today is for the new challenge over at Fashionable Stamping Challenge, which is entitled "Make Us Laugh." Now, those who are close to me know that I am about as sober as they come, however, even fewer know that when I am on a roll, I truly do have a very dry sense of humor and it would not take much for me to accept a gig as a stand up comedian, even if it were for one evening! But, I digress! As humor is not really my thing, I was a bit worried at how to go about creating my design sample. I decided to look through my stamp images and came across this image, including sentiment from Lost Coast Designs. Now I try to be very sensitive to others, to a fault, and would not want to offend ANYONE, and I hope my card does not do so. I can honestly say, as someone who has struggled with my weight my entire life, that when I purchased this stamp, I related. I can remember as a teenager, trying on clothes at the department store and asking my best friend if the outfit made me look "fat." The funny thing is, I look back at photos of myself now, and I was a bean pole, as a young woman. The world has not done women and young girls any favors have they with their propaganda? Anyhow, the young woman above, is obviously a very healthy weight. Okay, enough of being philosophical. The card was created using the Sea Star Stencil by Red Lead Paperworks and various shades of Distress Ink for the background. The wave stencil is also by Red Lead Paperworks. Simple embellishments include a wood charm by Red Lead Paperworks and a real starfish. Definitely, out of my comfort zone on this one! Wow, time for another Alpha Challenge at The Craft Barn. This time, there's a bit of a twist. Not only are we focused on the M this time, we are specifically to choose a word between Ma and Me in the dictionary. I decided upon the word "Majesty." On each page of my ongoing book I am created, I am including the letter at the beginning of the section of the dictionary. I thought it might be nice to use this stamp from England that I saved from a package. The London Bridge and Welcome to London sentiment are both from Artistic Outpost. The metal crown charm is from Tim Holtz. It will be exciting to put all the pages of my book together at the end of the year. I do think if I were to do the challenge next year, I would work directly in my dictionary. It would give me much more real estate. Hello! Major computer issues the past few days. I hope everyone is well. My card today is for two challenges. The first challenge is Ribbon and Buttons at Make My Monday and the second is for the latest challenge at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown where we are to include a heart and a love sentiment. I chose to use the image above from Alpha Stamps of a winged child holding a love banner. The background paper by Gecko Galz has snowflakes on it. The paper doily heart holds a Christmas Sentiment. Greetings! Finally got back into my Art Studio today. It sure felt good to have access to everything I wanted for my projects. This card is for several challenges. It is for the current challenge at Bloggers Challenge where the theme is Black and White and one other color, and also for the challenge at Frilly and Funkie where the challenge is Altered Metal. The main image is from Alpha Stamps and stamped with Black StazOn Ink onto Specialty Paper. Color was added with Spiced Marmalade Distress Ink using Sequin Waste. The metal numbers by Idea-ology were painted with Ranger Patina Paint in a Rust color. Black burlap string purchased from The Funkie Junkie and a bit of black crochet trim, a recycled button and some Chitchat stickers complete my card.
Greetings! It seems like I have been away from blogland far too long, though it truly has not been too long in reality. Due to travel and health issues for my husband recently, I have not been able to participate in some of the June challenges over at Make My Monday, so I was excited to ink up this new to me stamp for this weeks challenge "Strawberries and Cream." Our challenge to make a card with red, white/cream and green. My first thought went to this adorable stamp by Alpha Stamps. I stamped it once in Barn Door Distress Ink and again in Black StazOn ink and combined them. The doily and the chit chat stickers by Sir Tim were purchased at the Funkie Junkie Boutique.
