Happy Holidays!

 

Greetings!  Today, I am sharing may twelfth and final card for the Twelve Tags of Christmas Funkie Junkie Style, which is sponsored by The Funkie Junkie Boutique.  This is my first time to participate in such a challenge, and I am so glad I did it.  It helped me increase my stash of Christmas Cards, and even more so, it stretched me to create cards I would never have made otherwise. Linda's beautiful tag is shown below. 

I was inspired by the gold embossed background of Linda's tag, the overall red and green color theme and the Happy Holidays sentiment.  The background for my card is a complimentary image I received from Crafty Individuals when I ordered stamps.  The Happy Holidays image by Anna Griffin for All Night Media was given to me by a friend at work who decided to create all her cards on her computer going forward.  To add a bit more gold, I added pieces of a gold heart doily, folding it over the card base edges.  Vintage green seam binding, bits of tartan plaid twill tape, and a vintage button complete my card.  You have until December 17 to join in to be in the running for some generous prizes.  Thanks for dropping by.  Best, Yvonne

Noel, Noel

First, a great big thank you to my most recent followers!  Always amazed and delighted when someone decides to follow my blog.  We are up to Week 11 at Twelve Tags of Christmas Funkie Junkie Style, with The Funkie Junkie Boutique being our sponsor.  Linda's beautiful tag is shown below.  I was inspired to use numerous elements from Linda's tag.  The bronze tones, a white flower and bronze leaves, some lace, a script background and copper liquid pearls.   

I chose my Holiday image based on Linda's "A Joyful Christmas."  It inspired me to choose my beautiful "Joy and Happiness" image from Stampington, which I embossed with Copper powder.  The "Peace" and "Noel" sentiments are by Recollections.  I did not have a holly die cut so I used my Tattered Flowers die cut, purchased at The Funkie Junkie Boutique.  Thanks for dropping by.  Best wishes, Yvonne

Happy Christmas!

It is almost impossible to believe we are up to the 10th week at 12 Tags of Christmas Funkie Junkie Style. The challenge is sponsored by The Funkie Junkie Boutique.  For week ten, Linda created the tag below.  I have to tell you, this really took me back to my childhood.  My dad use to wrap the stand our tree stood on with brick paper and the brick on Linda's card just reminded me of my childhood instantly!  

For my own card, I was inspired to use a brick embossing  folder to incorporate brick in my own card.  I also included the number 25 and a scrap of cheese cloth as inspired by Linda's tag.  I was also inspired to select a vintage replica art image and in place of icicles, I decided to frost the top of my card with a portion of paper lace that I purchased at The Funkie Junkie Boutique some time ago. Some kraft and green striped paper, also from The Funkie Junkie Boutique, and a couple of snowflakes and vintage buttons complete my card.  

On a personal note, I am home again, after being out of town for three weeks while my husband under went some medical treatment.  It is so good to be back home.  We are hoping he feels better soon and that the treatments are successful. Christmas Adoration

Home for an overnight and thought I would try to catch up on the Twelve Tags of Christmas Funkie Junkie Style with the ninth tag shown below.  The challenge is sponsored by The Funkie Junkie Boutique.

For my card, I chose several elements from Linda's tag.  The embossed wood background, red and white stripes, a red button and  an Idea-ology ticket. I chose to punch snowflakes out of re-purposed white corrugated cardboard and swiped Festive Berries Distress Inks across them.  The little girl by Oxford Impressions was stamped, trimmed and water colored with Distress Markers.  Some chitchat stickers, lace and vintage seam binding complete my card.  Thanks so much for stopping by.  Best wishes, Yvonne

Seasons Greetings

My card today is for the eighth challenge of the Twelve Tags of Christmas Funkie Junkie style that is sponsored by the Funkie Junkie Boutique.  Linda's beautiful tag is shown below.  I was inspired to try to recreate the coloration of her background as well as the stars by Inkadinkado.  I incorporated Santa, an image by Stampsmith, a red border, flowers from Tim Holtz Tatterered Florals purchased at the Funkie Junkie Boutique and added some bells to reflect Linda's tag too.  I also chose to use the same sentiment in a different font.  Have you thought about joining in the challenge?  There's still time!

Happy Holidays!

Greetings!  Thank you to all of my dear friends who sent words of encouragement earlier this week concerning Hurricane Sandy.  I am happy to report that although we were prepared for the very worst, we were spared the heartache felt in New Jersey and New York.  Some how we managed to keep our power throughout the high winds and though we live one block from a river that flooded our home a year ago, we incurred no flooding this time.  This post is to share a card I created for The Funkie Junkie Twelve Tags of Christmas, Tag 7 Challenge, which is being sponsored by The Funkie Junkie Boutique. 

Linda has graciously allowed us to make other than a tag and I continue to make cards for the challenge.  Linda's beautiful tag is shown below.  For my own card, I was inspired by the following elements: the reindeer, the sentiment, snowflakes, and trees.  As my reindeer stamp seemed a bit contemporary, I chose a tree stamp by Studio G along the  same lines. The sentiment is also by Studio G. The snowflake stickers and punched snowflakes are from Martha Stewart.  

I hope you will stop back on Saturday evening for the latest challenge at Fashionable Stamping.  My posts will be scarce the following two weeks, as my dear husband is undergoing some medical treatments out of town.  Since the Hurricane, my Internet access has been spotty.  I will hope for the best and will try to keep up with all of you and your posts.  Best wishes my friends, Yvonne

Checking His List

This marks the half way mark for the 12 Tags of Christmas Funkie Junkie style!  Above is Linda's beautiful tag, which serves as our inspiration piece.  The challenge is sponsored by The Funkie Junkie Boutique.  For my card (rather than tag), I incorporated a pine tree, a bit of vintage page text, the word joy, snow flakes and a layered red paper flower and button, from Linda's tag into my own interpretation.  The pine trees from Artistic Outpost were stamped with Iced Spruce Distress Ink and distressed with more Vintage Photo Distress Ink.  The Santa image and sentiment by Stampsmith were inked with Red StazOn Ink and also distressed with Vintage Photo DI.  Vintage seam binding, a bit of burlap string and some Chrome  Liquid Pearls complete my card.  There's still lots of time if you want to join in the fun for a possible prize!  Thanks for dropping by.  Hugs, Yvonne

Christmas Morning Wish

Wow! We are up to Tag #5 over at the Twelve Tags of Christmas Funkie Junkie Style!  Isn't Linda's tag absolutely dreamy?  I continue to make cards rather than tags and thus my card for the challenge is shown above.  I just received several Sissix die cuts in an order yesterday morning from Linda's Funkie Junkie Boutique, sponsor for this challenge, which aided me greatly in creating my card.  For this fifth challenge, I emulated, as best I could, Linda's card with the Vintage Photo Distress Ink, snowflakes, music, tickets, a flower, and filigree metal embellishments.  This card was a bit of a struggle for me.  I was excited to find "The First Noel" sheet music in our piano bench, which I photo copied onto card stock.  Unfortunately, when I tried to add Distress Ink, the ink from the printer smeared, even when heat set, so I switched to a Stampsmith image of music.  The filigree elements are hardware from a opera-length black velvet cape I wore once to White Tie event!  This is my first time using the Tattered Flowers die cut. Joy and a Boy

Hello!  Today, I am sharing with you my take on Linda Coughlin's 4th Tag of 12 Tags of Christmas.  I just love Linda's Tag!  I especially love the gingham background.  For my own card, I wanted to try to use as many of the elements as I could that Linda chose, which includes: Gingham check, pine cone, holly, post card text, a bow, a calendar, an embossed red panel, and a black and white image.  I layered small scraps of gingham check paper (it's all that I had on hand) to the card base.  The Post Card sentiment, from the Ephemera Backgrounds plate by Artistic Outpost, was stamped onto the card base.  The various images were stamped on Specialty paper, distressed with Vintage Photo Distress Ink and added to the card front.  A Tim Holtz Texture Folder of pine trees was used to emboss pine trees.  The little boy and the pine cone are by Stampsmth, the holly branch is by Inkadinkado.  White glitter glue was added to the pine cone and the edge of the pine trees.  A tartan plaid bow from my stash and some Chrome Liquid Pearls complete my card.  Linda's boutique called The Funkie Junkie Boutique is sponsoring the Twelve Tags of Christmas Challenge.  It is filled with great items at great prices.  Why not take a peek?!  Thanks for dropping by.  Best wishes, Yvonne

Frosty the Snowman

Hello!  It's hard too believe that it is already time for week three of Twelve Tags of Christmas Funkie Junkie Style over at The Funkie Junkie Blog.  Linda has created a beautiful tag to inspire us.  For my creation, I was inspired by the crackled snowman, the bow, the snowflakes  and the words "Joy" and "Frosty." The red card base was heat embossed with gold embossing powder for a snowflake background.  Not owning a snowman die, I thought I might create a snowman from punched circles.  The circles were painted with Picket Fence Crackle Paint and distressed with Pumice Stone Distress Ink.  The heart and hat were cut from white card stock free hand and coated with glitter glue.  I am excited about my new Sissix "On the Edge" Snowflake border die used along the bottom.  "Frosty" was spelled out with an alphabet stamp and a "Joy" was stamped from a much larger stamp from Stampington and Company. I wanted to give the snowman some arms, and decided to be inspired by the flourish on Linda's tag and add some chipboard swirls as arms. I decided to add a bow, again, inspired by Linda's tag.  As  a last step, Stardust Stickles were used over many of the card components to make them glisten.Very different from Linda's tag, though greatly inspired by it, indeed.  Linda also has a beautiful boutique called The Funkie Junkie Boutique where you can purchase really neat card making supplies at discounted prices. O Holy Night

Hello!  Thanks for dropping by.  I am sharing a card with you tonight created for a challenge Linda Coughlin is doing called 12 Tags of Christmas Funkie Junkie Style on her Funkie Junkie Blog. Linda also has a wonderful boutique you should check out at Funkie Junkie Boutique.  Luckily, there is great latitude to create other than a tag.  As I have many cards to make for Christmas, I have decided to go in that direction.  As for inspiration, Linda's beautiful tag inspired my card with the stars, wings and glitter.  I chose to use a plate of Christmas stamps from Oxford Impressions.  The stars and wings of the angel were glazed with Perfect Pearls.  Distress Markers in Aged Mahogany and Worn Lipstick were used to tint the flowers.  The sentiment is by Studio G.  Gold glitter glue by Martha Stewart and ribbon complete my card.  I look forward to seeing the rest of the gorgeous tags Linda has in store for us.  You have until December 17 to make all your creations to be in the running for some great prizes, so why not check it out?  I really appreciate your visits.  Have a great week.  Yvonne
