Bloggers' Challenge: Ribbon and Lace Challenge

This is my first attempt at the Bloggers' Challenge! I hope I can figure out the technical portion of it. I made this card for the challenge, and also for my sister-in-law's upcoming birthday. She is a cat lover, as you probably guessed, and loves the color purple. I stamped the main image by Studio 112 and the sentiment by Art Declassifed using Tim Holtz's Distressed Ink. I matted the stamped images with black paper and added a salvaged canceled postage stamp. I chose sheer lavendar ribbon and for my lace, I used my artistic license to make a lacey-effect with a border punch by Martha Stewart. I finished the card with some vintage baby buttons.

For my second card, I chose an image from Artistic Outpost, stamped it in sepia ink and finished the edges with deckle shears. I layered my image onto the card from with various background papers. There was just a hint of orange in the background papers so I tried to bring out the orange by adding a bit of orange ribbon to the brown seam binding (one of my favorite ribbons for a vintage feel). Though the photo corners, buttons and German Scrap are gold, I added liquid Poly Clay in copper to my card to continue an orange influence. I also added a piece of Maya pompom lace from Artistic Outpost Attic Findings as a finishing touch. Note: I accidentally got some water on the ink that I edged my card with. I liked the burnt look it gave to the card, so I added more water!

Vintage Fun

I recently received a package in the mail that came with these beautiful postage stamps. I immediately salvaged them for rebirth with my cardmaking. After stamping this lovely image by Artistic Outpost and picking the rust colored background paper, I thought of my salvaged stamps. I think the buttons, ribbon and stamps work well with the colorations of the card. I really am enjoying the sentiments in this set of stamp images that are taken from Dr. Seus. The Bee's Knees!

I am so excited about these new stamp images from Artistic Outpost. So many of the sets can be used interchangeably with other sets. For this card, I chose the beautiful lady from the "Gatsby " set and the border and sentiment are from the "Flapper Fashions" set. With just a touch of color using Copic markers, my card is complete. The Lost Generation

I was very excited when Artistic Outpost recently released four new sets of stamp images, ordered them the first day they were available, but just did not have the energy to create following total knee surgery. Finally, I am starting to get beyond that! My husband's birthday is coming up. He is just a few years older than me, however, the images used in this card truly reflect his generation.
