There's an interesting new challenge over at Our Creative Corner. It is called "What Not to Stamp." Why not check it out?! The challenge is to select a card you made early on that you really don't care too much for but that includes something about it that is endearing and then make a new card that includes what you like but in your current style. Wow! It took me a while to sort through some old cards, and the one I selected below was created before I began my blog. It's funny, I don't normally care for cute stamps (that' putting it mildly) but when I saw this stamp by Hero Arts, years ago, something about it struck me. When I created my card with it, I followed the color suggestion on the face of the stamp using Copic markers. What don't I like? I don't like the heaviness of the colors and the poor blending, nor do I like the plain background. The rickrack seams to narrow, too. I never sent this card, so I guess I knew all along it was a dud!
Since I do like the stamp, I decided to try using it again. Six years later, it really is a different world isn't it? Distress Ink, Distress Markers, Specialty Paper, vintage seam binding, ChitChat Stickers, how did we ever live without all these wonderful products? With a more vintage feel, softer colors, and grounded embellishments, I think this is a card I would feel good about sending out.
Thanks so much for stopping by today! Best wishes, Yvonne

What a wonderful transformation! Good for you for trying the image again - it's adorable. I love all the texture you added in your makeover. Beautiful card! Thanks so much for joining in on the challenge!
What a cute image you have, and I love the make over! So much more to see as well. Thank you so much for joining us at Our Creative Corner again this week Yvonne!!!
Oh Wow Yvonne, haven't you come a long way in 6 years.... What a transformation, I actually do not mind the strong colour work on your image, I think you are being a little hard on your self.
Your remake is full of the colour and elements we associate with babies and any 'Mum' would love to receive this card.
Thank you for joining in the fun this week at OCC, as always we are pleased to see your work.
Smiles:)

This is an amazing way to chart progression in stamping/papercrafts.
Your second card is definitely "you".
I am sure you had fun creating this re-make.

P.S. I don't have any old cards. Wish I did as it would be fun to compare what I did then to what I do now.
Hello Yvonne :D
Congrats for being the first entry in and WOW..what an inspiration piece it is. I'm going to have to agree with Sue, the bold coloring on your fist card is quite stunning, it really captures your attention and draws you in to the detail of that wonderful Hero Arts stamp. However, my gosh, what a transformation in style and resources! The torn paper, the doilies, the pairing of the safety pins with the cheesecloth and the newer softer more vintage feel of that image...I think it's fabulous. The pieced sentiment is a lovely mixed media transition too. Kudos to you! Hope you're patting yourself on the back. :)
Thank you so much for sharing your creativity with us at Our Creative Corner. Best of luck and we'd love to have you visit again next week!

It's a great idea and both cards are very different. A wonderful transformation.
LOVE the evolution of your card, Yvonne! I love the change of colors and the addition of the pretty charms and embellies! Thanks for joining us this week at Our Creative Corner! Hugs, Marcy
What a sweet whimsical image and how terrific it looks in the softer color palette you chose for your makeover. Love the addition of the doily and the crinkled seam binding. I think the stripes add a lot too. Great job on the update, Yvonne. So great to have you playing along with us again this week at Our Creative Corner!
Hugs,
Linda
I had to come peek - I had so much fun with this challenge :) Amazing the difference time makes!
Such a great transformation! Your image is so adorable, I like much better the makeover, in which all the elements work very well together. Thanks for playing along with us at the Our Creative Corner this week!
Hi Yvonne. I love what you have done with the new version of an older card. You can really see a great difference, from the softer palette you have used to the layered style and fun elements. I love the tiny rocking horse embellishment!
Thank you for playing along at Our Creative Corner this week :)
