As 2011 draws to an end, I want to thank each of you who happen on to my blog, on occasion, regularly or just this once. It was early 2009 when I decided to create a blog. I spent the next two and a half years talking to myself, which was okay! In May 2011, while recuperating from my second knee replacement, I stumbled onto my first challenge, and I truly mean stumbled. I had no idea all of you were out there, or perhaps a better way to say it is that I had no idea how to connect to all of you. I was utterly amazed to say the least. Since May, I have become a follower of a number of blogs that speak to me, and I have learned so much from all of you. I have had the honor of becoming a Design Team Member along with an outstanding group of artists at Fashionable Stamping Challenge and have made precious lifelong friends. Like many of you, I plan to make my annual New Year Resolutions over the next few hours. Concerning my art, my resolutions include: Continuing to develop my techniques, continuing to encourage others in their art and with my art, continuing to create and share my cards with all of you and continuing to learn from you. Heidi, from Simon Says, is the focus of the Challenge for Simon Says this week. Before her baby was born, you could make a boy or girl card. We now know Heidi has a beautiful little girl so I decided to go for the pink! I used Distressed Inks, a Martha Stewart's punch, and the Baby Moon stamp by PSX and sentiment by Studio G. On a personal note, the pink cord attached to the large pink bow is left over from my granddaughter's baby announcements from 2003. Wishing Heidi and Jason the very best with their new baby girl.
Working on two challenges today. The first is for 365 Cards, where they ask that you create a card that includes a mythical creature. This dear image from Lost Coast Designs immediately came to mind. I also am using this card for a Simon Says Challenge that calls for paperpiecing or piercing. I chose paperpiecing. For my friends who are new to this term, it is when you stamp an image on multiple colored papers or cardstock and then cut them out and piece them together to give an overall colored image. The beautiful bow at the top of the card is from Character Constructions. The bird, sentiment and hearts are from K & Company. Thanks for stopping by. Hello! I decided to enter several challenges today. The first was for 365 Cards who is having a challenge today to make a card with a "sublime" message. Think hotdogs flickering in front of you at the movie theater and having to eat one at intermission. I chose a margarita for my sublime message. I purposefully kept all the other images by Inkadinkado on the card subdued in color so that the margarita by Studio G was front and center. I also used pop dots and matted the image on black paper to really make it pop. Any one thirsty? This was a challenge for me in that I did not quite know how to make the beach/ocean backdrop. I chose to tear various papers to create the sand, ocean and sky. I think it looks pretty good for my first attempt. Open to suggestions if you have any though.
