Live in the Moment

Greetings!  It is Memorial Day Weekend here in the United States.  The unofficial kickoff to summer, and an opportunity to pause and remember all of our countrymen and countrywomen who have given the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.  I have been poking around most of May working on my May Tag for Tim Holtz's 12 Tags of 2013.  His gorgeous tag is shown below.

This is my first year of playing along with 12 Tags and I must say it has been worth the effort.  Tim really pushes you to try new products and techniques but holds your hand throughout the process with a wonderful tutorial.  

From my perspective, working with Idea-ology Remnat Rubs was new to me.  Love how the inky juiciness of the Distress Inks worked on top of the Rubs.  Finally found my filmstrip ribbon and used the filmstrip ribbon and my Wonder Tape for the first time.  I did not have the enameled tags but used a grunge board key that I painted with Picket Fence Crackle Paint, distressed with Vintage Photo Distress Ink and added a ChitChat sticker.  My Classics#5  images arrived during May and I used them on the tag as well.

Butterfly Time

Greetings Dear Friends!  It is almost the end of April, so I finally am getting around to my April Tag for Tim Holtz's 12 Tags of 2013.  Tim's gorgeous tag can be seen here.  This month, Tim emphasized the use of Distress Paints and Metallic Distress Paint and creating a beautiful patina finish.  I have the fortune of having the Distress Paints to work with, including the Metallic ones, although the beauty of them was not captured in my photograph.  I really enjoyed creating a patina finish on the Idea-ology Metal pieces.  I only had a grunge board number "4" but I like how it came out.  Since I did not have the gorgeous butterfly stamp Tim used, I instead used this beauty of a stamp by Crafty Individuals.  I'm so glad I took the plunge this year to try these tags.  It is a wonderful way to learn and/or practice really cool techniques.  Thanks so much for dropping by.  Hugs, Yvonne

Happy Easter

Above is my tag for March for Tim Holtz's 12 Tags of 2013.  Tim's gorgeous tag can be found here.  For my own tag, I covered a tag with paper printed from Gecko Galz.  The bunny image is from PSX and is matted with a die cut frame by Sissix.  The grass at the bottom of the tag was cut with fringe scissors by Martha Stewart.  A Tim Holtz die cut was used to create the sentiment banner at the top of the tag. Golden Christmas

It's time for another challenge at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown.  This week, the challenge is to create a card using Black, White and Metallic Gold.  My version of the challenge is quite simple, but I think elegant.  The center panel of gold metallic card stock was embossed with a Tim Holtz Alterations Embossing Folder.  Gold and black striped ribbon was added to the top and bottom of the panel. February Tag for 12 Tags

Greetings!  February is drawing to a close and looking back, I guess I am kind of glad.  My stepfather had a heart attack and open heart surgery this month, my dear husband began a new and somewhat frightening chemo agent, my PC crashed, and the set up of my new PC was difficult to say the least!  However, that said, there is much for which to be grateful.  And so, without further ado, I am posting my tag for February for the Tim Hotlz 12 Tags of 2013 by the skin of my teeth.   

Here is a photo of Tim's tag.  This is my first year trying Tim's challenge.  In January, I had a fair amount of the supplies that Tim worked with, which was good I guess as it gave me confidence.  For February, I had very little.  I decided to splurge and purchase several shades of red Distress Stain but otherwise, worked with what I had.  I used an image from Artistic Outpost for my focal image.  The black portion at the bottom of my tag was a piece of black card stock, embossed, torn, and sanded.  I enjoyed making the tissue tape ribbon tag topper as described by Tim.  Not sure about the distressing my tag with Distress Stain.  It doesn't look as nice as Tim's.  Perhaps it is the card stock I used.  It may not have absorbed as well as a manila tag.  In the end, I am rose to the challenge and so I am happy.  Thanks for dropping by.  Yvonne 

12 Tags of 2013 - January

Okay!  I finally mustered up the courage to join the fun over at Tim Holtz's 12 Tags of 2013!  I admit I was a bit worried, but I was totally amazed at how fast the whole process went with Tim's step by step directions.  Before I realized it, I was finished!  Tim's fabulous Tag for January 2013 is shown below.  I LOVE this style of art work and have slowly been building up my stash.  I just recently acquired the time piece embossing folder and cog wheel dies over at The Funkie Junkie and was thrilled to have them to use today.  I did not have the text below, but used another text from Tim Holtz.  Somewhere, I have a tin of film strip, but I could not find it, even though I just reorganized my craft studio, so I found an image of a film strip from a stamp purchased on eBay and used that.  

I truly love working with Distress Inks and tried Tim's trick of slicing through most of the top of my embossing folder to slide my tag into it.  But probably, my favorite part of this tag was stamping the ribbon and dragging it through Distress Ink.  Need to acquire more Distress Stains!!!
