Good morning! The challenge over at 365 Cards for Day 119 is Feeling Punchy. Precisely, we are to pick a punch, at least one, and dress it up. I am not into punches and only have a few that I received from a former colleague as gifts. She personally collected punches for many years in case she ever started making cards! She finally settled on jewelry making and her work is beautiful and she is most happy with her hobby. My card above is made with one of the punches she gave to me as a gift, a heart. I simply pierced each heart and added some Stickles glitter glue. (By the way, the beautiful border punch is also from her!) The sentiment is from Studio G. Both punches are from Martha Stewart. Coincidentally, the brads are from another former colleague who is an avid card maker! Thanks so much for stopping by. Have a beautiful day! Yvonne

365 Cards - Day 117 - Do That Decade
The Challenge at 365 Cards on Day 117 is "Do That Decade." We were challenged to create a card from the 1950s. I chose this image and sentiment from Artistic Outpost. The year on the image is actually 1949 but I purchased this plate of images called Polaroid Cutie from Artistic Outpost specifically because it reminded me of a photo of myself when I was a little girl that was taken around 1958. The background paper has a retro design and I added little color to the image to go with the period portrayed. Thanks for stopping by! Yvonne
Blogger's Challenge - Things with Wings
I have been away for nearly two weeks. It was fun, but I really missed my card-making! So...I checked my two favorite challenges when I returned, Blogger's Challenge and 365 Cards and made this card for both. The theme at Bloggers' Challenge is Things with Wings. At 365 Cards, there was a Super Sunday Sketch. All the images and sentiment are by Cavellini. I struggled with the embellishment. I am not so much into flowers anymore, but in the end, it seemed appropriate to have them for the butterflies. I just picked up this beautiful lace hem tape at JoAnn Fabrics recently. It was on clearance because it is a discontinued color. The ribbon is from a shopping bag from Coldwater Creek. I love recycling items! It is hard to see, but the card is also wrapped in metallic turquoise and gold thread. Check out Bloggers' Challenge and enter a card of your own!

365 Cards - Day 101 - Keep Your Distance
I just love the challenges over at 365 Cards! They really have stretched my creativity. For Day 102, the challenge is "Keep Your Distance." We were challenged to use lots of design elements and to try to keep as few of them from overlapping as possible. I normally would have done just that, overlapped the elements. I must say that it still looks nice without overlapping. I hope your weekend is going well. Thanks for stopping by. Yvonne

365 Cards - Day 101 - Words of Wisdom
The card challenge at 365 Cards for Day 101 was Words of Wisdom. The challenge was to include a sentiment on our card that makes us feel good or inspires us. I chose the sentiment above by a very wise Martha Washington. The stamp is by Art Declassified. Some copper colored Viva Pearl Drops and brown seam binding complete the card. Thanks for stopping by.
Bloggers' Challenge - June 10, 2011 - Sketch
Hope everyone is having a good day today! The challenge for this week at Bloggers' Challenge is a sketch as shown a the top of this post. Lisa allowed us to rotate the sketch but asked that we keep the design elements in place. For my card, I felt led to choose a variety of blue and yellow papers. I embossed the solid colors. My image is by Artistic Outpost. I finished my card with a little packing material I've been saving and some ribbon, pom pom lace and rayon thread. I think Mrs. Robin is eyeing up the thread to use in her nest!

365 Cards - Day 100 - My Happy Place
Today's challenge at 365 Cards for Day 100 is "My Happy Place." We were challenged to look around our home and find a place that just makes you feel happy and at peace. From there, we were to create a card inspired by that happy place. My happy place would need to be my outside space. I am fortunate to have gardens all around my home, three patios, and two fish ponds. (Our home and the home next door have common space and so we enjoy both our neighbor's pond and our own.) I am happiest when I am outdoors puttering around, pulling weeds, planting, arranging seating on my patios, or at the end of the day sitting and taking in the beauty of the day. I love when we can have family and friends to our home and enjoy the outside spaces. For my card, I chose an image of a wheel barrow full of flowers (that was me earlier today!) by Stampin' Up. I also added an image of a peaceful girl (it could be me!) by Stampington and Co. And finally, I included a sentiment about Happiness by Penny Black. I was thrilled to find a bunch of seam binding clearance priced at JoAnn Fabrics recently and used the purple for my card today. Thanks for stopping by. Enjoy your evening and stay cool. Yvonne
365 Cards - Day 99 - It's My Party!
Greetings! The challenge over at 365 Cards for Day 99 is to create a Birthday Card that YOU would like to receive. Wow! The sky's the limit, right? The card base was easy. My absolute favorite color in the whole world is GREEN! I love Navy Blue to set off my Green, so my main colors were set. I also love modern, so I chose the funky background paper to add a bit of modern to my card. You can't have a birthday without cake, so I chose the very popular "cupcake" by Studio 112 for my card. The sentiment is also by Studio 112. I also selected this young woman by Stampington and Company. She is one of my all-time favorites. I often add her to a card to express a deep human element of expression. Somehow, I feel like I am there in person when I use her on a card that someone receives. She also looks a lot like me when I was younger (lots of curls)! You can never have enough green so I embellished my card with green felt rickrack and flowers. I felt my card needed sparkle, but I did not want to add any more elements, so I grabbed some glitter pens and added a soft, subtle sparkle to the cupcake and girl, and though it is lost in the scanning process, it is really pretty in person. I can truly say that this card would speak to me if I received it for my birthday. Thank for stopping by. I always appreciate it. Have a great day! Yvonne

Pink and Brown Challenge
I found a new challenge at Really Reasonable Ribbon's Ramblings blog. The challenge is #25 Pink & Brown. In addition to being pink and brown, your project must include ribbon, trim or lace. I immediately thought of a card for a baby girl and was excited to ink the images above for the first time by Studio G. Thanks for stopping by. Yvonne

365 Cards - Day 98 - Lucky 13
The challenge at 365 for Day 98 is to make a card with "exactly" 13 of something on it in recognition of Pam and her husband celebrating their 13th Anniversary today. I decided to make a card with thirteen hearts. Some are paper, some are chipboard and some are metal brads. A simple strip of ribbon with XOXO on it completes my card. Happy Anniversary Pam!
365 Cards -Day 97 - Super Sketchy Sunday
The challenge at 365 Cards for Day 97 is the Super Sunday Sketch. A copy of the sketch we were to work from is above. With Memorial Day just behind us, I felt like making a patriotic card. I love this She-roes set by Artistic Outpost. The images were stamped in Faded Jeans Distress Ink by Ranger. My niece will receive this card for Veterans' Day. I am very, very proud of her and her service to our Country. Have a great day! Yvonne

365 Cards - Day 96 - Ad Inspired
The challenge for Day 96 at 365 Cards was to make a card inspired by the Coke ad above. Truly, I would never have created my card without this challenge! The vase is by Studio G, the stamped butterflies are by Cavellini Paper Company, the birthday sentiment is by Hero Arts and the sticker butterflies are by Martha Stewart and the sticker flourishes are by EK Success. The touch of glitter is Stickles by Ranger. You will want to check out the other entries for this challenge. They are over the top! It was especially fitting to make this card today as today was my deceased Mother's birthday and she loved butterflies. Happy Birthday Mom! I miss you so much. Thanks for stopping by. Yvonne

365 Cards - Day 95 - Mixed Messages
The challenge at 365 Cards for Day #95 is called Mixed Messages. The challenge is this: combine four ways to add a sentiment to your card. I chose stickers, handwritting, a stamp and metal brads. Unfortunately the brads did not show up too well. They spell "Bird." Thee image and stamps are by Artistic Outpost. Thanks for stopping by. I hope you are having a great weekend. Yvonne
Bloggers' Challenge - Pet Week
The challenge over at Bloggers' Challenge this week is Pets. We are to make a card reflective of our family pet or one you would like to have. My pet is a Chocolate Standard Poodle named Josephine. I named her after my mother because she was born the same week my mother passed away. "Never say never." I never liked dogs with human names before. But when I thought of a French name for my dog, Napoleon and Josephine came to mind. I thought it would be nice to call out my mother's name every day in her honor. With my stepfather's permission I proceeded. Hopefully my mom is okay with it! The stamp set by Stampin' Up is quite old, but it does have a Parisian flair to it. The other "never say never" is that I never wanted a poodle. Never liked the fancy hair cuts! When I learned that poodles are hyper-allergenic and do not shed, and that you can cut them in a Sporting Cut, I was game. Josephine is eleven now, and is so sweet, so smart and brings the whole family lots of love. I sure am glad she chose me when I went to pick her out. Thanks for stopping by. Yvonne
Happy Birthday Dear Alex!
DC Tomorrow, my oldest grandson, Alex, turns six! He was born on my mother's birthday, which is so very special to me, since she is now in Heaven. Alex has selected Transformers as the theme for his birthday party. I decided to make him this card with Robots from DCWV. I added silver jump rings to the card. Not quite Transformers, but hopefully he will enjoy the card! Can't wait to see the cake his daddy makes for him. It will be a masterpiece for sure. Thanks for stopping by. Yvonne

365 Cards - Day 94 - Button Blitz
I am really enjoying the challenges over at 365 Cards. They have stretched my creativity and helped me to make cards I would not have otherwise thought of making! For Day 94, the challenge is Button Blitz. You are to use at least twenty buttons on your card and at least six of them must be stacked. I never thought of stacking buttons before! I started with images from the Send in the Clowns plate by Artistic Outpost, colored in with Copic Markers and softened the background with Distress Inks. I matted the clown image in black and bordered my buttons around the matting. I decided to keep my color palette to a minimum in keeping with the vintage aura of the stamps. I'll be submitting this card to Artistic Outpost's June Referral Program too. (I was the lucky winner in the May Referral Progrm so I am hoping someone else is selected in June. I am just hoping to share my card with others.) Let me know what you think of my card! Thanks for stopping by and have a fabulous weekend. Yvonne

365 Cards - Day 91 - Color Scheming
The challenge at 365 Cards is to make a card with Orange, Green and Blue as the predominate colors. I decided to do a "Warhol-like" card using those colors. The images and sentiments are by Artistic Outpost. Thanks so much for stopping by! Yvonne
365 Cards - Day 92 - My Favorite Thing
The challenge over at 365 Cards for day 92 is "My Favorite Thing." We are to make a card that reflects our favorite ice cream. I guess it is no secret that my favorite ice cream is Mint Chocolate Chip! The image stamps are by Artistic Outpost and the sentiment is by Studio 112.
365 Cards - Day 93 - Bulletin Board
The challenge at 365 Cards is to make a card with the look of a bulletin board. Although the cork does not show, it is implied! I chose to make a bulletin board that is covered with "fabric" made out of flowered background paper and run ribbons across it to slide photos and messages into it. I added a key to give the notion of a set of keys hung by the back door ready to go, and a copper brad to replicate a push pin. The sentiments and image are by Artistic Outpost. Thanks for stopping by!
